Quitting in character select should not count as a loss
Lag in character select is main indicator whether match will be laggy or not, so leaving there should not be punished imo.

Just decline matches with Red Ping Bar...

Agreed. How can one be losing a fight that hasn't yet started. During the first few seconds many people check the connection speed and ping value first before actually picking a character.

It ain't that easy. I think I lost count of how many matches had been intolerably laggy despite of 3-4 green bars indicated. And vise versa. Players with red ping bars at times delivered a solid match with no lags at all. So... it doesn't really help much.

Agreed. I've been a victim to that one too.

I agree with you OP, yet stats dont really matter in the game. By the way I sometimes have this issue with people on green or yellow bars, i think the connection check is only done once and not really represantive for the user that is the only way how i can explain that sometimes friends do have red (1pingbar) and sometimes green (4). The match runs fine in both :O

Stats mean nothing in this game. Although I agree, leaving in character select is hardly a loss or even quitting.

I gotta mention one thing I encounter very often. When I connect with opponent, first few seconds of character select (when camera zooms) are ALWAYS lagless, when camera stops, I have (i believe opponent too) massive ~1sec lag, then smoothness is gone and there are always lags, sometimes massive, sometimes acceptable, but always.

These few whiles of lagless connection are weird.
