A easier character with some decent zoning is Grandmaster sub zero. Another is Pyromancer Tanya.
I didn't really mean "easy to win with" I meant easy to learn the feel of the game. I usually use characters that I like based on looks, but this time since this is a new game for me i'm willing to use someone else just to "learn" the game.
Basically I was asking if Kitana could fit that role since she's the character that I actually like. I don't care if I lose with her sometimes.
The other character that I like is Erron Black but I heard he's difficult to use and wouldnt be a good begginer character for me.
Erron black is not easy. He has a few moves that can be fairly challenging for beginners to use in combos since they're very odd commands, or strict on the dial up combo string.
Tbh though, don't listen to me. play who you want. If you like Kitana, play Kitana. You can learn this game no matter waht character you play. It just takes time. There's no easy route really. You gotta get in there, lose a LOT, and learn.
kitana should be getting lots of buffs soon with the Predator patch, they sped up a bunch of her stuff, so maybe after that drops she'll be even fiercer.
damage, zoning, combos.. then I'd have to recommend Full Auto Jacqui Briggs. Some nubs can't get their heads past her gatling gun, but besides the gun, which is her zoning tool, she has really intuitive combos and it's not that hard to do 30% combos with her. It's a jack-of-all trades variation. Only tricky part is you need to get good at run canceling, which is a special beast in this game, but once you have that essential skill a LOT of combos open up for a LOT of characters. The tutorial will tell you run is F,F,Block. That's crap and won't work in combos. Do two press, F, then F+Block simultaneously and you're combos will be funtimes.
Very awesome, in depth guide to get anyone up and running with full auto jacqui:
