[Fixed] Game does not launch at all
Installed the game and during first run, it prompted to repair Visual C++ Redist. Once done, the game does not even show the praparing to start window. It just does not start.

Uninstalled and reinstalled the VC Redist, installed latest nVidia drivers, verified game content... still no go.

Any ideas?

Got the issue solved.
The game launching through the Steam GUI did not present an error, but launching sdhdship.exe directly from the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\SleepingDogsDefinitiveEdition did show an error.

In my case the following was displayed:
"The program can't start because XINPUT9_1_0.dll is missing form your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

XBox controller dll from what I found. That file had to be reinstalled and registered, etc.
After doing that, the game starts.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Have you tried running sdhdship.exe in \Steam\SteamApps\common\SleepingDogsDefinitiveEdition ?

Instead of launching the game in the Steam GUI, you can go to the exe directly while steam in running and launch it.
It at least gave me an error message so that I could work on it.

the game is also not launching for me. It just says the executable has stopped working. I tried launching it in the folder aswell and downloading the C++ as it said above.

You may need to recheck the file integrity via Steam.

If that passes, which version of Windows are you running?

Game won't launch for me either. I had no problems running the original version of the game. When I try to run sdhdship.exe I get an error message which says "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application". I did an integrity check and no errors. I reinstalled/unistalled the VC Redist as well.

I did some checking and this seems like not a too uncommon error.
Found this youtube video. From the looks of it, it has to do with runtime libraries and other dependant software. I havent used that fix, but you may want to look at it.

The read at the bottom to find the links. If you ant to watch the video, the brah talks a lot of kak, so skip to 0:55 and from there it makes more sense.
As mentioned, links are below the video.

Personally I do not always trust strange software, but it may show you in the right direction.

To clarify, what is the exact error message?
I gather you can't activate it in your country, but does it state activate or CD key?)

That seems to have done the trick. Thanks for your help.
