I got bronze warrior, pork bun and it was easy as hell.
1. Get a decent outfit that confers either melee/general damage resistance, or melee/general damage increase. You can find these in the Night Market's special store. Look for the yellow t-shirt icon. Good options include Bronze Warrior, the Thug ensemble, or one of the others. I'd avoid the Wing Chun master. It says it makes counters easier, but I found it to be confusing when you also have the poison effect, which screws up vision and timing. Plus, if you're already able to counter most times with normal speed, the Wing Chun will screw up your timing as it slows things down.
2. Drink a soda in your apartment (free damage increase!) which can be found in each apartment's refrigerator. Also get another buff like the damage resistance or health regen offered by food/tea.
3. Try to take on at most 3 guys at once, and preferably with all of them facing you. When you get surrounded, you get your ass kicked. If you knock a guy to the ground and have a second, chop him while he's down with your cleaver. This should kill him in one hit. You can try ranged combat (throw the cleaver at him), but that can be risky.
4. Ideally, you want to avoid getting hit at all, but that can be pretty difficult. The way the poison works is that it slowly drains your health -- BUT -- if you run away and wait a bit, the poison health drain eases off and your health returns.
5. If you find yourself in over your head, run to the other side of the arena. Most of the enemies are kinda dumb and probably won't hit you. This can let you regain a little health.
6. Try to do this after you've upgraded your health at least 2x. It's doable earlier, but it's really difficult. Also, you get +25 health when you defeat each group of 10 enemies.
I second this. Getting used to both the Martial Arts fights, and the police camera fights (Which often involve melee weapon-toting thugs) is excellent practice to get the dodge patterns/timing down.
This. Running around throwing knifes instakills them and keeps you at a distance. Should be loads of knifes lying around anyhow everywhere. If not, then use counter and take it away from em.
