get all the buffs you can handle, where a legendary suite that gives a good buff for melee, if you get low on health run away till your health rejuvinates.(if you don't take dmg for awhile your health will heal half way up.) also, find all the prayer shrines to double your health. try to kite your kills instead of letting them bunch up all around you. run then turn and kill a couple. rinse and repeat. in the definitive edition this mission ends after 30 kills.

I think the best way without getting all those upgrades is to use the golden cleaver to take out some, and use throw knifes while your farther away. Also I honestly think going weaponless is better if your surrounded.

What's a "buff"?

The way that I beat this tough mission was to gain as much distance as possible, and try to pick off enemies one by one. Instead of distributing damage equally among the whole group of attackers, you want to bottleneck them (like the back corner), and keep making circular strikes.

The really tough part is on 29/30, when you start getting rushed by a lot more enemies, many of whom are the heavy guys.

I failed a total of 3 times while on 29/30 kills.

So basically the steps:

1. Move to a position in which only 1 enemy can hit you at one time. The ones who run at you will likely attack when they close the distance. Get ready to press E to counter them, and then bust out your golden cleaver combo!

2. Once the enemy falls from the cleaver combo, try to step in and finish him. Gain some more distance, and do this again.

3. Keep picking your moments to engage enemies, and dont' worry if it takes a longer time to complete this. There's no race to finish.

So play smart, try not to get swarmed (keep moving to make it harder for them to envelop you).

Is this mission the one with the poisoned knifes and you start with a cleaver? I just rage quit the game from this mission, I found melee easier because you can counter everyone.

Half the time when I dodge I get poisioned anyway, And the other half of the time the dodge key is unresponsive. Its poos.

It was quite tough, I couldn't get past 23 guys but I took an energy drink to increase attack and some tea to reduce damage. That did the trick for me. I had also found 60% of the shrines by then, so I had alot of extra health. If you're doing it without the extra health points, it's going to be pretty tough.

For dodging, they tend to slice at you 2 or 3 times in a row, you got to anticipate. Also, try to avoid them circling on you. If you see that it's going to get really crowded, run away a bit. Your oponents will follow after you but at different speeds, this will effectively split the group allowing you to fight them in smaller waves.

Just played it. I had 3 buffs and max health the first time and died on 27 - of course the buffs were gone the following playthroughs...

Found a loophole: as the 'arena' is u-shaped, with the enemies pouring out the top-right, if you hide in the top-left (around the corner) the enemies get trapped on the barrels. You just have to pop out every now and again to allow one to slip through and take them one, sometimes two at a time.

I managed to get through 26 before the barrels gave way to sheer numbers, but by then I still had full health (full Face-Meter healing comes in handy) and just waded in for the last four...

I manage to pass it after several attemps. It seems that the trick is to wear the swat uniform to reduce the damage, take a massage to improve the face and drink the can to improve the damage. Then forget defense. Attack attack attack. If an enemy turns red attacking him will stop his attack. Forget dodge, it is a bit buggy.

I haven't got to this mission yet, but that's irrelevant. In games, a "buff" is a (usually temporary) stat bonus. Here, it refers to the bonuses given by eating or drinking the pork buns or noodles or Dragon Kick or whatever.

Just use long range attack. Use your Golden Cleaver as throwable it is a one-hit kill, after that use the Poisoned Knife from the enemy to throw to another enemy. If you are surrounded while holding knife, just run away and throw the knife to them. If you are not holding anything just use counter. Hope that helps.

I tried it twice and failed at kill 20(ish). Decided to leave this one till the end game (if possible) and I am fully upgraded. I was even wearing that gold outfit to reduce damage and still got pawned.

It's really hard, so don't get discouraged. I beat it early game, and my health was really low, so it was an uphill battle.

The toughest part is when they start swarming you and attacking at the same time. I don't hold right mouse to lock on. I strike about 1-2 times on one guy and then run away. If there aren't any enemies behind me close by, I will usually complete a full combo with my mouse and down the guy I'm taking out.

I would hold onto your golden cleaver, that thing will never break, and it does a ton of damage if done right.
