[SOLVED] Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition executable has stopped working

The game doesn't launch and everytime it says: Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition executable has stopped working... i installed the latest drivers and my pc has the required specs. so i don't know what to do anymore. any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

SOLUTION: I forced my pc to use my nvidia graphic card, because it kept using my other graphic card. In this post you will find the steps on how to do this. I hope this helps someone.

Firstly ensure that your operating system and all other drivers are up to date, restart your system, then try these: Go step-by-step:


1) "Verify Integrity of Game Cache", and run the game;

2) Run the game from a Clean Boot[support.microsoft.com];

6) Create an exception on your Internet Security / Anti Virus software for the "sdhdship.exe" file (see above) / close the software entirely, and try running the game through Steam;

7) Run the game with DirectX 9 vs DirectX 11[feedback.overwolf.com];

8) Reinstall the game;

9) Refresh, Reset, or Restore your PC[windows.microsoft.com] :)

Do you mean to say that the DE of Sleeping dogs was ahead of its time?
I hope you mean the game Sleeping dogs NOT the DE
the DE REMOVED many features core to the game, watered the game down also
made all gear TOTALLY different and lame aka no more customization just FULL SUITS

the DE is a huge DOWNGRADE
if you own the original + dlc, its SUPERIOR than the DE
far..

google DE vs non the issues are all over
removal of stuff and changing how things work is a no no in the way they did it.
DE's RARELY get it right

I played Mafia 2 times both times in sli 690GTX 1080GTX and then they took the sli profile away loved 120+ fps on my 144 1ms tn

please just get ONE card
you get no benefit from dual , unless you want to run 8 UHD monitors
for 1 monitor ONE GPU

many MANY games and devs STOPPED making games compatible with it
I bet you are one of those, If I have two 12gb Vram gpus, that means it will be 24gb vram and 2 twice as fast TOO!

no real support since the SLi profiles went away around 2020 one by one they vanished I was speaking of past when I had 30 40 games SLi and was a big difference of 60 or 100-120fps
it was great help in games that could need a left in fps

I had 2 470 2 680 and 2 1080s
I have no more SLi since 2020 with single 3090RTX

Im un caped doing 140-165 in this game easy smooth game to run on 1440p 165hz max game and nvcp

Hi,

I solved my case for playing sdhdship by copying and pasting some common dlls . into the Windows folder (sysWOW64 and System32). I got it from a YouTube video:

I already applied all the suggestions on this forum, but this one is just working.

My problem:
1. Trying to launch from Steam: no response, just back to "Play."
2. Launch from the game folder, get msvcr100.dll, and fix that with copy-paste.
3. Launch again from game folder, get 0xc000007b error, try fixing it with properties settings, "run as admin", "Disable fullscreen optimizations", and running on "Compatibility mode" for windows 8, still not working by displaying same 0xc000007b error
4. Apply the last solution by copying the common dll. for games; it's working.
Edit: i do apply forcing the game to using nvidia GPU via "NVIDIA Control Panel."

I will give update after trying for a moment to see if there are any problem

Addition information:
Game run on 25 fps–45 fps (average 36 fps)

CPU: Intel Core i7 11800H
GPU #0: Intel UHD Graphics
GPU #1: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 with Max-Q Design
Ram: 8 gb

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition
My game crashed every time I started it with a white screen. I found this solution:
1 - Force the CPU in settings - system - screen - graphics - add the game (sdhdship.exe) and options: choose energy saving (intel graph).
Or
2 - If you want to use the RTX GPU, you must set the display mode of your portable screen by default (Nvidia only) in the Nvidia panel. Then go to settings - system - screen - graphics - add the game (sdhdship.exe) and the options: high performance (Nvidia).

My laptop HP OMEN: i7 13gen - RTX 4070 - Windows 11
