The game doesn't launch and everytime it says: Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition executable has stopped working... i installed the latest drivers and my pc has the required specs. so i don't know what to do anymore. any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

SOLUTION: I forced my pc to use my nvidia graphic card, because it kept using my other graphic card. In this post you will find the steps on how to do this. I hope this helps someone.

Hey

Firstly ensure that your operating system and all other drivers are up to date, restart your system, then try these: Go step-by-step:

1) "Verify Integrity of Game Cache", and run the game;

2) Run the game from a Clean Boot[support.microsoft.com];

3) Reset your Graphics Card Software[support.riotgames.com], and run the game.

4) Reset the game back to it's Factory Settings (Options Menu) and run the game;

5) Try launching the game DIRECTLY from the main game folder:
I) Right Click "Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition" from your Steam games list
II) Click Properties > Local Files (Tab) > Browse Local Files
III) The "SleepingDogsDefinitiveEdition" Folder will open up
IV) Scroll down and launch the application "sdhdship.exe"
- Does the game run?
- Do you get an error code? Something like: "The program can't start because .............dll is missing form your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.";

6) Create an exception on your Internet Security / Anti Virus software for the "sdhdship.exe" file (see above) / close the software entirely, and try running the game through Steam;

7) Run the game with DirectX 9 vs DirectX 11[feedback.overwolf.com];

8) Reinstall the game;

9) Refresh, Reset, or Restore your PC[windows.microsoft.com] :)

What are your system specs?
ARVIE Jan 26, 2015 @ 5:51am
intel i7-2630QM
6 GB RAM
nvidia gt555m 3GB graphic card

i checked it on a site, and it said i could run it.

Just to add onto the specifications:

1) Which Windows operating system are you running?[www.windows.microsoft.com]

2) Is your PC running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows?[www.windows.microsoft.com]; It's most probably a 64 bit system, but just to rule the 32-bit issue out.

How has Technical Support been?

Issue resolved: System kept defaulting to the integrated graphics card, causing the game to crash; SOLUTION: Set an exception on your dedicated graphics card software

EDIT:
- Issue resolved - just editing the post :)

Enjoy :)

Sorry but I didn't fully understood what you meant with the link. Can you explain it shortly please.

I tried to start it again multiple times and sometimes I get the notification that windows graphics accelerator drivers stopped working and is repaired... and the game isn't listed in NVIDIA Geforce Experience... maybe the game doesn't recognize my graphic card? (nvidia gt555m 3gb)

Hey

Well, now it makes a lot of sense. The game defaults to the integrated CPU/GPU on some systems.
An Intel HD 4000 graphics card or newer variant would run the game - however, I believe that the game is not designed to run on graphics cards at HD 3000 and lower, so instead of even running, it just crashes.

In short: The game defaults to the integrated card, have a look at the steps below.

1.0) Nvidia Low FPS on Dual Graphics Set Up

Sounds like your laptop is defaulting to the GPU on your motherboard. You need to go into your video card settings and make sure that Sleeping Dogs runs on your dedicated video card. I can't help you with the specifics, but I've seen several other people with the same problem.

After game patch and with new nVidia drivers game is playable and performance is way better than before. I can now play smoothly without FPS drops on my ♥♥♥♥ty GTX550Ti.

So if you got decent nVidia card and still poor performance in game - try update your drivers to newest one.

1.1) Dev Edit: added steps to force NVidia GPU:

Hey there,

You can force your laptop to use the more powerful graphics card. Have a google around for the NVidia GPU Optimus solution for more info. Here's a quick copy paste of how to do it:

Go to the NVIDIA Control Panel by right clicking on your desk top and clicking on "NVIDIA Control Panel".

In the default screen that pops up (it should be "manage 3D settings", and the "Program Settings" tab should be automatically selected), under "1. Select a program to customize:" hit the "Add" button.

From here, navigate to the folder where your steam games are located. For me, it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common.

Select the folder for the game you want to use your NVIDIA card for, and find the .exe for that game (it's usually right in the main game folder). Select it and hit open.

Then, under "2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:" open the drop-down menu and select "High-performance NVIDIA processor".

Finally, hit apply in the far bottom right corner
