I'm not so sure about Nvidia or Intel but I'll list my specs for comparison. I'm able to play at max settings comfortably.

Windows 8.1
AMD Phenom II x6 1100T Overclocked to 4.11GHz
8Gigs ram
Radeon R9 290X

Not sure if those specs are similar or less then yours. Maybe try updating your drivers if you haven't done so in awhile.

Also I hadn't reinstalled Windows for sometime prior to last month. Once I did my games seemed to run smoother, could just be a placebo though.

Sorry I can't be more help. :(

750ti way more slower than 290x)

I max the original game with the 750ti, 8gb ram, and a AMD X4 945 3.1ghz, unless this looks much better he should have 0 issues, I did keep AA on medium to get it to run at like 40-60fps though....and it was at 1080p.

well, have to wait for nvidia to update drivers i guess)

Take your AA setting off of Extreme and turn it to High. The game uses SSAA which is one of the most brutal AA methods out there. It basically renders an entire frame twice before it displays from what I understand. Basically doubles your GPU load.

Turn it to High and run the benchmark again. Let us know.

with all on max except AA on high i have an average of 36FPS
if i put it on normal i get an average of 56FPS.
so this realy helped me, thanks!

AA is a killer, most games you should leave it off if you can or 2-4 usually is good....

It actually depends on what type of AA it uses. FXAA is pretty mild and you can have that up pretty high without a huge performance hit. MSAA is a little more intensive, but you get better quality. SSAA and FSAA will heavily tax any card. So not all AA is created equal.

AF on the other hand can usually be cranked up to 16x with an almost neglible performance hit. That option is not available in this game, but you can go to your GPU control panel and force it to 16x and it does make a difference.

I'm using an Nvidia 860m with 12g of ram and an intel i7-4700HQ @ 2.40GHz on a Windows 8.1 64-bit system and I get terrible frames unless I turn low resolution buffers on, which I might as well go back to the original edition at that point.

I ran a benchmark and it turns out that the game is using my display driver (the CPU essentially) to run ALL the graphics, and completely ignored the Nvidia card. I think this is the root of the problem, and I don't think there's an end-user solution to it, no matter how high or low you set the game's graphics.

At this point, all I can think of is that it's a driver error or incompatability, and either Nvidia or the devs should take the issue on.

There's very little help on the internet in the way of technical advice because the game is so new. Don't expect anything but normal reviews for the next week or so.

are you playing on a laptop
Vincent Oct 10, 2014 @ 12:17pm
It's a laptop, but I figured out the issue. It was a problem with the Nvidia system. Just had to tell the driver to specifically use the graphics card for the game, because it defaulted to the CPU. Now it runs High @ >60FPS regularly.
Psygo86 Oct 10, 2014 @ 12:24pm
my brother had the same issue, but you have fixed it yourself. enjoy the game!
Ahroovi Oct 10, 2014 @ 3:38pm
Everyone keeps saying the AA on here is SSAA, but in my gpu control panel I have it set to use the applications settings. I know it says SSAA ingame but I had NO performance hit at all on highest AA setting, and it made everything have serious jaggies. I turned AA completely off and everything was smooth and my framerate was still the same.
Maybe my game is defective? Idk.
I have screenshots on Steam comapring the highest and lowest AA setting now, highest has noticeable jaggies.

The way you change what programs use which processor for graphics (at least for Nvidia) is by right-clicking on your desktop and navigating to "NVIDIA Control Panel". From there, go to "Manage 3D settings" and select the "Program Settings tab. Select the program you want to run on your graphics card from the drop-down menu (it may take a bit to populate the list if its your first time) or hit add if you can't find it. Select your NVIDIA processor if it's not the auto-selected one (it probably isn't if you're having this problem) and hit "apply" down at the bottom. The problem should resolve itself from there.

Setting games to maximum pre-sets is just stupid. This game especially. On max this game will not only put SSAA up to 16x, but FXAA on as well.. Which is quite possibly the stupidest thing in the universe.. It's like putting on cheap lipstick over expensive lipstick

There are many ways you can achieve the same level of graphical fidelity while putting 1000x less stress on your system.

Certain common sense factors i follow when adjusting graphic options..
1. There is no point in pushing anti-aliasing past 2x (Personally i never use AA it just blurs the image)
2. There is no point in running shadow resolutions on ultra when you can get the same fideltiy on high with medium shadow filtering.
3. In most games theres no point in setting ambient occlusion higher than "medium" Because ambient occlusion just puts soft shadows in and around objects so theres no such thing as "Jaggy" ambient occlusion.
4. Theres not much difference when going past 8X Anisotropic filtering.. Putting it on 16x just takes away 2-4 frames for no reason.
5. Never set object detail or "Mesh" to ultra in video games. It literally doubles the amount of wireframe the CPU needs to render at the cost of seeing a chainlink a little bit rounder? Nope.
