[AMD] Sleeping Dogs hates switchable graphics.
Also known as " Is there any fix for Sleeping Dogs' crashes on my computer other than the power-saving driver switching driver fix?"

Hello.

I'm sorry if this is the 5000th thread regarding the issue, but since all other threads on this forum were made by nVidia users, I really want some help on this. Google doesn't help either.

I'm having issues with this game on my laptop. It is 3 years old now, but still manages to run most games today, including Sleeping Dogs, thanks to the switchable graphics option.

The specifications of my laptop are above-recommended for the game. But there is some problem...

I don't mind posting the specs. Here are the specs:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
Model: HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC.
CPU: 2.5 GHz.
RAM: 4 GB.
Processor: Intel[R] Core(TM) i5-3210M 3rd gen.
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4000 w/ AMD Radeon HD 7760M driver.

I run all my games on the high-performance driver (the Radeon HD7760M one). This game is an exception; it runs great performance wise, but instantly crashes after a few minutes in the game.

I've tried verifying game cache, running the game as admin, reinstalling the game and the game doesn't work. Turns out going to Catalyst and switching to the power-saving driver (Intel HD4000) for the game makes it work without crashes.

I know right? I've solved my own problem. But the game is literally unplayable now because I'm now running the game at a 800x600 resolution at the lowest settings at a solid 10-15fps.

Because the game is unplayable when using the power-saving driver, I really want to run the game on the high-performance one without the crashes.

Cheers.

Hey

Run the game on "high performance" - Have a look at lowering AA (Anti-Aliasing) setting in-game.

The game mostly crashes at the title screen. I'll check this out though, thanks.

EDIT: Didn't work. Anti-Aliasing is set to it's lowest.

bump.
Can the devs at least release a patch adressing this issue?

I am not directly familiar with AMD dynamic switchable graphics but do have experience with nVidia's Optimus.

With the nVidia system, there is a way to globally make your computer render using the "dedicated GPU". Look for this option in the AMD software. Sometimes, choosing a program specific option for "high performance" failed in the nVidia drivers too and the only way I ever found to work around it was to enable it globally.

Edit: Have a read of this....

Hmm. Figures.
Turns out setting the game on High helps it stand out a little more. So much for low FPS.
