The E key doesn't work for escaping chokeholds simply because it doesn't detect keypresses nearly as much as it should. Until this issue is fixed - and I really thought it would be with the Definitive Edition - you'll have to rebind it to a mouse button.
Yup - When being grappled (or fighting with grapplers in general), it's pretty tedious to get out, when tapping "E"; (For Example) binding it to the MMB (Middle Mouse Button) instead, seems to solve the issue, and also seems to fix the few times that "E" doesn't seem to work when countering.
(Perhaps it's an issue that's more prevalent on less-powerful systems, as most users don't really seem to have an issue with the timing)
Ideally - a 4/5 button mouse (with the right bindings) would make the game even more enjoyable.
Or most people play with a controller...possibly. Everyone I see saying it's a problem always says "the E key".
Depends on your interpretation of less powerful systems, although really, if a person with a 'less powerful' system is running this then they'd probably be quite lucky to get it to do so. I have had problems with this E button issue regardless of the system it's on - and that's quite a few!
M'lord how can we be of service?
