why no sleeping dogs 2?

who's behind this stupid decision? I know that they instead make some MMO out of sleeping dogs by now and it's utterly stupid...

I don't know about you guys but I think the dev and publishers missed a huge opportunity to expand this franchise, because I believe the series can attract huge fans in the emerging market that is entire asian gaming community there...

why... because one of the biggest reason IMO is that 80s 90s Hong Kong action/comdey movies were and are still HUGE here, look at those Jackie Chan, Andy Lau etc cop/action movies from the 80s 90s, Sleeping Dogs is the closest game to those HK movies, it has enormous potential to attract that market.

so what if it just slammed as yet another GTA clone? GTA games are too western, and as an Asian I'd like to see an Asian centric GTA at least for a change or osmething new.

true, they should have spent the budget for the sequel
I guess the point is to bring these games to "next gen console". but we PC already have great graphic for original version (still amazing till today standard), and they sure could make a sequel for next gen console instead of this.

This re-release is them testing the waters with the new generation of consoles to see if it's worth investing money on a sequel

There will be a sequel. It's already in production. This is a stopgap measure while they finish work on it.

That said, I'd look into it very carefully, before getting excited, because it's not going to be the same game, at all.

Originally, that was true, but at least on the PC, its sales record had a pretty long tail, eventually become a cult hit ... which, for what is essentially a new IP, is the best you can really hope for. (Yes, it was originally intended to be part of the True Crimes series, but by all accounts the extra polish applied after SE bought the rights to the game made it far better than any of the original games.) When no one knows what to expect from a franchise, you can't expect legions of people to run out and buy the game on day 1. Once you've had time for some positive word of mouth, however, those sales can keep rolling in for a long time after the iniital release.

In this day and age, with mechanics changing so sharply from one game to the next, it's hard to tell the difference.
