Hey

Assuming that you have an Nvidia GPU and an Intel HD (4000 or newer) integrated card:

1.0) Low FPS (Frames Per Second) / Lag

10-20 FPS (Frames per Second)?
- May be due to the graphics card defaulting to the integrated one.
- Have a look below for the Nvidia Solutions.

20-60 FPS (Frames per Second)?
- Can be adjusted by playing around with some of the settings, for example:
  • Turn down the AA (Anti-Aliasing) setting;
  • (Optional) Turning off Vsync;
  • (Optional) Lowering the Ambient Occlusion level.

1.1.0) Nvidia Low FPS on Dual Graphics Set Up

Sounds like your laptop is defaulting to the GPU on your motherboard. You need to go into your video card settings and make sure that Sleeping Dogs runs on your dedicated video card. I can't help you with the specifics, but I've seen several other people with the same problem.

After game patch and with new nVidia drivers game is playable and performance is way better than before. I can now play smoothly without FPS drops on my ♥♥♥♥ty GTX550Ti.

So if you got decent nVidia card and still poor performance in game - try update your drivers to newest one.

1.1.1) Dev Edit: added steps to force NVidia GPU:

Hey there,

You can force your laptop to use the more powerful graphics card. Have a google around for the NVidia GPU Optimus solution for more info. Here's a quick copy paste of how to do it:

Go to the NVIDIA Control Panel by right clicking on your desk top and clicking on "NVIDIA Control Panel".

In the default screen that pops up (it should be "manage 3D settings", and the "Program Settings" tab should be automatically selected), under "1. Select a program to customize:" hit the "Add" button.

From here, navigate to the folder where your steam games are located. For me, it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common.

Select the folder for the game you want to use your NVIDIA card for, and find the .exe for that game (it's usually right in the main game folder). Select it and hit open.

Then, under "2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:" open the drop-down menu and select "High-performance NVIDIA processor".

Finally, hit apply in the far bottom right corner

Are you running solely on an integrated Intel HD 4000 Graphics card?

I have zero issues with framerate. Is your PC not good?

yeah but i meet at least the min settings with the gpu and way more than the min with the cpu

Well - the game is not best optimised for integrated / less powerful graphics cards.
Lower all the graphical settings and the anti-aliasing.

If you really want to play the game smoothly, try turning on "Low-Resolution Buffers" it's pretty low quality graphics though; or perhaps lowering the resolution.

I did lower everything before i've started this discussion.

This version uses higher res textures and rendering features than the initial release, so the quality settings probably mean something different now. So the quality level you used to run at actually requires more hardware now. The HD 4000 is very mediocre hardware, what was equivalent to a mid-range /mobile/ GPU (at best) in 2012. It really doesn't warrant that level of rage.

Run GPU-Z when you're running the game and see how much video memory is being taken up. Pretty much look at everything that GPU-Z reports on and look for things at or above limits.

So I paid for a game that has misleading requirements and I dont get a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ refund? what the ♥♥♥♥!

It doesn't sound like you're really interested in troubleshooting your problem. If you just want to rage and scream about refunds, go take it up with support. These are the forums. You're not going to get a refund here.

This is what GPU-Z of my setup looks like while playing the game (on just shy of maxed settings.)

To be honest, I would rather buy a new pc than contact steam support, they're useless

You'll be happier in the end - new PC and you get to enjoy the game (and more of them)! Cheer up.
