I'm having the same problem.
I do not understand enough power. I updated Steam, check the cache, reinstall the game, checked drivers and derekt. Still crashes.

Try lowering the AA (Anti-Aliasing) setting; and then the general graphics settings.

Experiencing the same problem. Sometimes only the sdhdship.exe would crash which would return me back to the desktop which is fine, but most of the time I get HARD crashes which would lock up my system and leave me with just a black screen and the "no signal" error message on my hdtv and/or monitor. Only way to fix it is to restart my PC. I've had about 20 or more these crashes since yesterday and I'm now afraid of even trying to run the game for fear of destroying/corrupting both my hardware and software. I've tried most, if not all of the fixes posted here and on various websites to no avail. Really contemplating on uninstalling the game and asking for a refund.. shame really, as I was just beggining to like the game.

System specs:
core i5 2500k (reverted back to stock after first crash)
zotac gtx 780 OC (reverted back to stock after first crash)
gigabyte z68ma d2h-b3 rev 1.0
2x 4gb gskill ddr3 1600 xmp
vertex 4 128gb (75gb free space. 4gb page file)
seagate sata3 2tb (game is installed here)
seasonic x560w gold rated psu
asus PB298Q (dvi connection)
Sony amp through hdmi which is then connected to an LG 50 inch led tv
Xbox one controller
Windows 8.1 pro 64bit

side note: my PC was perfectly fine before I started playing SD:DE. Just played and finished shadow of mordor and tomb raider the past month or so. Now, I've been experiencing freezes and lockups even outside of SD:DE. I'm now doing a backup of my entire steam library as I type this just in case I need to reset my win 8.1 installation.

It is a pity that someone is trying to sell these games, I personally do this manufacturer probably will not come.

I honestly don't care about maxing out the game right now. Just wanna be able to play it w/o ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up my system. After all the hard crashes and ♥♥♥♥, I've been experiencing random lockups while playing life is strange (which is also a square enix game i think), signing in to windows!!!, and scanning for viruses. I think I broke my OS installation.. screw this ♥♥♥♥.

Same problem here..
Game crashes after several minutes, including an error saying something along the lines of a display driver stopped working and has recovered.

No issues on any other games including shadow of mordor, dirt 3 etc.

Running:
System Windows 8.1 64-bit
MoBo: ASUS Z97 Pro
Processor: Intel i7-4790k
RAM: 8GB
Graphics Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 780 Ti

All drivers are up to date as far as I'm aware.
I have tried all combos of reinstalling game and windows, change each setting including windowed mode, HUD, all graphic settings with them all ending in a crash.

- also have a friend with a low end pc with same issue

Umm... Anyone have an idea ? I have this problem too and my computer is on a fresh install and all the drivers are up-to-date.

CPU: AMD FX-8320 Eight-Core @ 4 GHz
GPU: GTX 660
RAM: 2 x 4 GB
Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-Bit
Drives: 2 x 1 TB

EDIT : I unstalled the Steam Cleaner (used to remove redistribuable packages in Steam) then I verified my game cache - Seems fine for now.

EDIT 2 : The game is now (almost) stable. It keeps crashing only after one or two hours more or less...

same problem with me. only run in 10-15 minute.

in nov 2015 its work very fine. i can play 8 until 2 days.

Windows 10
Processor : Intel(R) Core i7-4710HQ CPU @2.50GHz 2.50Ghz
Ram : 8 GB

Edit : Solve!
in task manager. kill the process / end task of "Touch Keyboard and hand writing panel" than play your game.

ps: you must end task that process every time your computer restart or turn on.
