Please Bring First Person View to Driving - Small mod that makes a huge difference!
Dear United Front and Square Enix,

I really love all the work you did on the Definetive Edition. SD already looked great when it came out but you guys went all out for the Definitive Edition!

My only issue with the Definitive Edition is that because you've switched to 64bit from 32bit, my favorite mod for it: First Person Driving which only works on 32bit and is no longer developed is broken.

Now I know you guys have put in alot of work to go from the initial release to Definitive Edition but would it be possible to add a first person Camera to the cars and bikes. I can see it being that much work to add a new camera and it makes driving in Sleeping Dogs ten times better: (a) it's so much easier to react to stuff happening in traffic and turns when you're seeing from just a little infront of the windshield then 6 meters way behind the car; (b) the Hong Kong you rendered in the game looks uterly stunning in this view - seriously, you can see then entire buldings and all the neon lights - IT LOOKS AMAZING.

I can talk to you guys about it all day but in the end, it's better to show you what it looks on video, so I captured some gameplay footage with the mod as I used it in the initial release.

If you're one of the Players or potential players that use this game and you want to see this, please vote this thread up and/or post a comment.

THANKS EVERYONE!!!

not gonna happen. wont see any updates for this anymore, they've moved onto other games, and the mmo version

I understand what you're saying but it's a pretty easy fix and they still are selling the game. If enough people post their support, it may happen.
Pfft...the developers won't do this. They seem to have issues with people moding their game, so don't expect any help from them to do so.

I second to this.

That's actually not that easy. You need some extremely detailed models, textures, and animations for the interiors of each and every car. That's some expensive work right there.

I'm not really proposing a camera that's inside the car (though that would be great), just an over the hood camera which makes the driving experience so much better because you actually see what's happening trafficwise right in front of you while you drive and perve on the beautiful vistas they made which you can't really see because their default view is facing down.

No new textures involved, the textures on their cars look great upclose allready. Maybe the hood reflection needs to be more high res because your point of view is right on top of it but reflections are computer generated (meaning they can be easily changed in the source code for the hood cam - and probably in one place).

Seriously, guys, a new camera view just involves telling the game that you want the camera over the hood instead of behind the car. It's not rocket science and make such a huge difference.

That's complete nonesense, I'm asking them to make small change to *their own* game. Not make a modding kit.

I got to say guys. Was not expecting this level of overbearing pesimism from the community. I guess it's easier to shoot an idea down and show the world how savy your understanding of game develloper psychology is than to actually try to encourage a positive, if small, difference for everyone playing the game. You go steam community.... You go....

I really don't understand why developers do this. It's such an easy thing to throw a few different camera views in. Hood cam, bumper cam and a few chase cams with different zoom has been pretty much the standard since the dawn of 3d gaming.
Same thing happened with LA Noire except there it was even more wierd. You had the 3rd person cam and Rockstars useless wheel cam only.
So much work goes into making these virtual worlds and then you can't even enjoy exploring them driving around.
