It's called Install ALL redistributables from the install folder; even if you think you have it installed, run it again from this directory;
Run the game in admin mode; Not compatibility mode -
Put Windows 10 game mode on;
List what specs you are running -
I tried EVERYTHING just like you - well - more - because I actually got it running -
Also - in the sound Menu - did you enable Stereo Mix?
But the difference is that -my screen didn't turn white - and stop responding - it was kicking me out- During 2-5 minutes of random gameplay -
Also, are you using the latest GPU drivers?
Have you tried using a cracked .EXE file to fix the game? and see if it's perhaps steam causing this issue;?
It could be a directX issue, and I think you should check Windows Events to see what causes the application to stop responding;
Please let us know the above -subscribed to try get you working; we can also try TeamViewer or something;
As I specified above, I already did that. I installed the redistributables personally.
Also, probably should've mentioned this. The game screen turns white, the game puts itself in a window the size of the whole screen, and some background audio from the game keeps going, without interruption or repetition.
Tried admin mode with and without compatibility mode, while having Windows Game Mode active. No positive result.
Motherboard - ASRock 980DE3/U3S3, 4 x USB 3.0, 2 x SATA3
CPU - Hexa Core AMD FX-6300, 3500 MHz stock, 4100 MHz Turbo
RAM - Kingston DDR3-1333 Dual Channel 2x8GB, CL9
GPU - GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1050 Ti G1 Gaming, 4GB GDDR5, 128 bit, DX12.1
We may be talking about different games...I'm talking about "Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition" which only has 4 sound options (SFX, Music, Dialogue and Car Music), Stereo Mix not being one of them.
Yes. I never miss an update, even though it's been 4 years since this version of the game was released...(GPU drivers almost never have anything to do with older games)
I tried this as well but I get the same unresponsive white screen.
And even if Steam was the culprit, I bought this game so that I can run it through Steam to unlock achievements, share screenshots, etc. If I wanted a cracked game, I would've simply played the pirated, free CODEX version...
It's not a DirectX issue and Event Viewer does not register any problems because the game itself continues in the background while being unresponsive (paradoxical, I know). I have to eventually close it through Task Manager because as I said, the screen is white and I can't do anything. Sometimes it blocks access to almost everything and I have to create a secondary desktop using Windows Key + TAB so that I can open a responsive Task Manager.
I "think" I can manage a few simple tasks on my own, considering the fact that I've been a gamer since '95 and an IT "initiate" for more than 15 years.
Just out of curiosity, how did you manage to get it working?
I'll check now when Im back home -
I will look at item's compatibility etc.
Try adding -dx9 to the steam shortcut properties and see if that helps for the time being,
be home in 1.5hours;
Also, the application's API is DX11 so "-dx9" doesn't work.
I have win 7 compatibility because it worked then, and admin mode,
Installed redistributables, and repaired the one that was already installed and it worked.
Also there are two folders for Redist - that one and Common Redist - install or repair everything from both.
There was nothing else.
Maybe the game is biased towards AMD, due to most problems of it not running originating there.
Enabled "Stereo Mix" and am now going to attempt playing it again with Windows 7 compatibility and admin mode selected.
I have some business to attend to so I'll only make another short test right now (30 minutes tops, assuming all goes well) and if no errors occur, the "Definitive" test will be tomorrow. :)
The ingame sound started to loop and the image simply stood still. (however, no white screen this time)
Giving it one last try considering the fact that I've done all I could in regards to this matter...
I'll test the game tomorrow for a few hours, should it run accordingly, and I'll post the result here.
Anyway, until then, thanks for trying to help.
Unfortunately, the final verdict is the same as before...no luck. It still crashes. I give up.
But again, thank you for trying. I wish you an awesome day and all the rain you need in Cape Town.
At least you have the game on your account, and could play it on whatever PC you install it on;
Stay well;!
