I'm guessing part of the problem is that their position on the track is abstracted when they're far away, so they never screw up a turn or bump into each other.
Combined with Underground-style AI rubber-banding it is quite rage-inducing indeed.
2. Helps if you know how to ride a bike in real life, to wit: look in the direction you are about to turn into, slow down before beginning a turn, start on the outside of the turn.
It took me a long time to beat too...once I had a huge lead and the game froze near the end where there is the 90 degree turn in the alley with the fence, the game started back up...but it popped me on the other side of the fence!
Why? I mean I agree that racing in this game is pretty bad but... it's not hard, come on.
Doesn't matter what bike you use, just pace yourself. The AI is so terrible you don't need to floor it in order to leave them in the dust. Keeping a steady pace helps reduce crashes.
I have both. It makes no difference, the braking and acceleration are equally f*cked for both, and the annoying camera makes smooth steering futile.
Definitely pick your bike and practice making those full-speed brake-turns outside of a race, but I also got some help by practicing in a car as well first. Cars handle that speedbrake differently than bikes, but just getting used to the skid and timing when to release brake and give it gas to rocket off in your new direction still works the same. Practice the basics in a car, then give a few runs on a bike to feel how it's different, then give it a go.
Wow, a game I don't suck at. I beat Sleeping Dogs five times and each time won Enduro on my first attempt.
Actually you just have to avoid crashing. Sooner or later the AI will fall behind.
