I do and even when they attack, i press it, and it still doesn't work everytime. Its pretty inconsistent. Sometimes it work others it doesnn't. I prefer Shadows of Mordor, or Arkham Knights counters better imo. Those are most consistant. Althouggh everything else about the combat is superior in this game than those games.
I can beat the biggest MA club without getting hit once, don't think I'd be able to with an "inconsistent" mechanic.

You have a lot of moves that dont as well though.. Unlockingg and all. I dont know, i press it when they attack, and it doesn't register, maybe its just my game with lag or something. I can press it at the same exact time with the same exact enemy, and one time i will counter the next i wont.
I played Arkham Knight and I agree the prompt is more obvious in that game but once you get good you don't even need the counter prompts for those games. Practice, practice, practice.
There are some good oponent challenges in the dojo to practice countering and a fight club outside to practice your counters.
Also a few pre-set outfits can give you a bigger counter-window by slowing down time.
Yah i got used to it eventually but i just couldn't see the red counter wanring for sh*t.
