Tackle Strike problem, advice?

I was trying to learn the "Tackle Strike" after returning a statue.
The thing is, it never registered any of them in the training/tutorial for the move.
If I start far away and hold A+B and run, I just run at the foe and whiz by them even though we collide.
If I start close, hold A+B, Wei slams opponent into ground and I still don't credit for doing the move.
If I do the same thing as before and then press X as they go down I do I follow up punch, which I assume is what this is trying to teach me, but still I don't get credit even though I did it multiple times.

I see no other threads on this, so anyone have any advice on how this is supposed to be done properly?

Okay, I got it. To have it register you need to get away from an enemy and hold A to run toward them, then as you get close also press B to tackle, afterward press X to punch them in the face.

I have no accessible memory of this, but I also can't count how many times similar things have happened in games. My assessment of this game ended up being fun game marred by controls & some camera issues.
