Anyone able to play this with a "ps3" controller?

I've been able to use the 360ce emulator with an imitation ps3 controller on a few games I play so it works, but the button mapping is off here. I mainly need the controller for driving. Sadly the right joystick instead of camera is set to throttle/ reverse (left and right), and the throttle/ reverse buttons (right/ left bumpers) are set to map and pause etc. Unplayable really. I've spent most of the day trying to solve this and not one thing altered the controls. So the game clearly supports an xbox controller. Is that the solution or has anyone found a way around this?

I use SCP Server and it worked just fine for me, try that.

Hey thanks for pointing me in a direction. Initially it ended up being the same result -computer just wouldn't read my generic controller as an xbox. THEN I plugged in an actual sony ps3 controller and it works perfect.
