However, I was able to move on after I noticed a blueprint in my inventory and went and researched one of my disciplines (gunsmithing I think). After that, I was able to enter the creater. Hope that helps!
Mild spoilers ahead:
I tried lots of stuff, but this seemed to work:
I went to the Circus and had all 3 Persons fight until they all lost and were replaced. I saved my game, then, with my new set of Persons, the Crater allowed me to enter.
I hit "Leave", exited the game completely, reloaded my savegame (with my new Persons), and Crater was "bugged" again.
I repeated the Circus until I replace all 3 Persons again (replacing just 1 didn't work), and Crater "worked" again. This time I entered the Crater and saved my game again after entering the tactical map.
I'm sending both the savegames to CFG along with the output log for the instance where Crater was "bugged". Hope that helps with your bugfixing, CFG!
Just a note, I don't think you have to leave, exit, and come back after replacing the Pinkertons. I just did that to see if the Pinkerton "fix" would persist across saves, which it doesn't ;). You should be able to just replace the Pinkertons and go straight to Crater without exiting, I hope.

The backed up save i made at the lab still works tho.
When i in Laboratory interface doesn't appear and i can not go anywhere. After save and load, moving appears, but research doesn't work anyway.
