The Rangers In The South

Progression is weird
I feel like you're encouraged to grind the entire map, which means halfway through Area 1, you're way ahead, and you're destroying everything for the next 2-3 areas, and then suddenly it's challenging again as soon as you hit the endgame. It's a little weird that you don't do "extra" grinding to achieve this, you just clear out all the metaprogress dungeons and shrines, which it feels like you're "supposed to" do anyway. Maybe it hits different after you prestige, but the first playthough has a very steamrolly and boring hour or two in the middle, and the very beginning is a little slow, but not that hard because the stakes aren't that high and you can kite stuff.

I guess maybe the real game starts at Prestige 1, and I don't plan on resetting my save unless saves are made incompatible in a future patch. It just doesn't feel like your first run has a consistent challenge rating at all at the current state of EA.

I'm not sure, I thought it happened automatically when you kill the demon lord, but I'm not quite there yet. Or maybe the world prestiges but you don't restart until your current character dies? I definitely read that you get a permanent difficulty spike after beating the boss though.

Each time you kill the Boss the world difficulty increases. That's the endgame. You beat the game you get to beat it again but harder.

You die when you kill the Demon Lord. It's kind of dumb if I am being honest.

It's a neat little game that is worth about 4-6 bucks.
