Wouldn't it be cool if this game wasn't stolen?
Yeah, it would be, but that's not the case.
Remove it and apologize to Kenney.

Editing this as well as both devs took the nice and professional approach and resolved the issue.

Yeah, such a shameless rip off. I wonder if the other game from the dev is also a rip-off.

Truly a shame people stoop so low :/
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Absolutely agree.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm a bit surprised that the game is being percieved as a ripoff as that certainly isn't my intention but this feedback has definitely made me reconsider that the visual similarities to Kenney's game are too great and the game cannot stand on its own without some changes. Therefore I'm going to be giving the art direction a visual overhaul to distance it from Kenney's game and allow it to stand on it's own outside of the shadow of Kenney's game.

Other than visually the games are different though. Instead of immediately becoming hostile about it check how the game changes since the dev has been told about the similarities?

Neither game copied kind words which is also same kind of look and small isometrisk room

"Wow, I can't believe the blatant ripoff I made using the very same assets from the game I'm stealing from is being perceived as theft!"

You're not fooling anyone with this. You know exactly what you're doing and we're not going to stand by it.

You gonna borrow some of his assets and change er a bit? Absolutely disgusting. Do not support this.

I think there is more to this specific game than a your example. Beyond the general similarities, please look at the game's trailer video and hear the same sound assets, and there are a few visual assets that are too close to the game "Make Room"

That why it is copied right up to the sounds?

@Crimsonify So are you gonna take down your crap post or are you gonna try to milk it for awards like a clown?

I became aware of the situation and did my research on both devs in the span of about 45 minutes during a work break. This is my first ever post and comment on Steam. I did it mainly as a form of 'protest', if you will, since there's no Report button that I'm aware of on the platform.

I don't have the time to do an in depth analysis for your foul-mouth-holiness of why I think hacktic's work so far is more towards plagiarism than anything else. I'd just like to point out (cause a lot of people seem to have missed it) that hacktic developed a game called Taking Root just a few months ago that *looks* (haven't checked) like a perfectly sound and 'creatively ethical' product. So isn't it at least a bit weird that he immediately started working on the exact same concept, but they did it by copying Kenney's MakeRoom exact look and feel for their second game?

I understand the two devs talked about it and made amends, and I have noticed hacktic's changes to some of the promo material. Time will tell. I'm really not here to ♥♥♥♥ on the approach or the process or the people involved. You should try it.

I'm not deleting the post for now howeverr, for (all be it) a personal bad feelings about this as a project/product but I'll do you a solid and mark this as the answer if I can, so that other people see my reasoning (and they'll get to skip your comments too, yey).

I decide when or if I remove this post.
Hugs and kisses.

Crap is too foul-mouth for you? Yikes.
Developers always get inspiration from other people's work, Kenney does not own the genre and even then you could say K ripped off Furnish Master (oddly similar).

You have not made one remark about what exactly was stolen (spoilers nothing).

Sounds? Both use (different?) sound packs from other creators.
Visuals? Furnish Master existed before both.
UI? Nope, both have drastically different looks if you looked.

Both are still in heavy development and six months from now you won't even care about this drama but you will still mislead people and be giving people negative vibes.

You already seen the drastic changes and both are moving in different paths now, yet you don't wanna move on and just delete this post? Weird

Please keep it civil everyone. Debate is fine but calling each other names is not.
