Problem, you can pick up every item in a cave, and then drop it in your ship and pick it up when you need it.

Not much of a problem, can already do that now. Just requires a banana peel.

Actually, I remember using the Banana Peel to bring items in all the time, and it's actually incredibly useful, to the point where the backpack is almost useless in comparison with the banana peel - I will just run around with my sword and wrench, and if I need healing, take the chemistry kit, if I'm going to use a console, I take the phonograph, Civ? sort through the all the trash to find my Translation Book. Lair Guardian? Rose and tesla. It's an incredibly useful (and broken) strategy. I do however, quite like that the Banana Peel allows that, it's fun finding unconventional uses for joke items, which is why I personally think it's better to not have a drop button

So, this post is nearly 2 years old, but can we please get a drop item button now?

I came here to make a post about the same thing. It's so frustrating to find a weapon you like and not have a backpack. Then the item is gone forever. Can we make it like Batteries? You pick up and can leave them in the ship. Or put more backpacks in the beginning of the game. I understand you can play custom game but I think this would make the game better.

Pls allow for items to be dropped on ship. Or like a locker on the ship that can hold 3 things. Something -_-

Maybe allow 1 backpack to hold 3 items for crew.

Drop would also allow us to change weapons with crew easier...
