No 4K Resolution Option?
Bought the game recently during the Grand Prix sale, made a few of my friends buy it too. Just launched the game today and right off the bat I noticed that my resolution wasn't 4K, went into settings and found out that the max resolution I can use is 1920 x 1440 @ 59 hz[i.imgur.com], looked up on Steam and found out the pressing ALT while launching the game will pop up resolution option and then I selected 4K from there, but upon launching, in-game settings shows that I have 1920 x 1080 @ 23 hz selected.

Anyone else playing it in 4K or knows a solution to this? It'd be immensely helpful, thank you!

I don't think the assets were drawn in 4K resolution.

That's fine, not all of the games are designed with 4K textures anyway but in-game resolution option just isn't matching the popup resolution when you press and hold ALT.

That's indeed a bug.

Really hoping for a fix soon so I can play with friends, or a workaround at least. :sadelf:

What can I say you buy exotic technology, you pay extra for new fucntion and you suffer technical problems.
It is like ray tracing. Ge-force 1660 and 2080 have hardware support for ray tracing which is cool but they are very expensive. In future when this feature will become common in games cheap GPU will have better performance than todays ray tracing monsters.
Before first important title which wont run without ray tracing will get released economical GPU's will be offering twice as much FPS as overclocked Ge-Force 2080.

4K isn't exotic anymore, though.

What makes it non exotic?
Less than 10% of players use 4K. Feels exotic enough to me.

4K panels are expected to be in half of U.S. households by the end of 2019, that's a huge market. And the fact that you can get a 4K panel for $100-ish on a good sale makes it very achievable. It's not the same as years ago when I had to pay $2k for an entry level 4K monitor, which I still use to date, along with additional, newer models.

Assets doesn't have to be 4K, and that's understandable. Not even all AAA games out there do that, but simple resolution support for that is anything but hard to achieve. Games from 90s run at 4K native as soon as I launch them without any issues.

As far as i know, a forced fullscreen resolution on a 4k monitor is not 4k in resolution? Many old games just do the former.
Deeper should do the same, though. For a really native 4k resolution, you'd either need the assets in 4k so the size ratios match, or have everything be small (which would give you a view range bonus i guess, and probably be hard to play). Or vector graphics, or 3D graphics, because those are calculated to match the pixels anyway, so changing resolution there is way easier.

How does deeper look when you start? is it fullscreen?

I can't comment on the 4k spread thing, but from my european perspective it takes ages for stuff to spread out of the US. And Screens like that are still mostly used for TV, even if they were 4k.

When you say spread, you're talking about the adoption rate of 4K? I'm not in 'Murica either, but I understand the markets and how they expand. So, an argument in 2019 about 4K being an exotic so you have to 'suffer' is futile.

As for your questions, when I launch the game, it is in full screen and as the screenshot shows, only at 1080p, sadly.

I am definitely not expecting 4K assets from this game, just support enough that it can run in 4K native instead of 1080p. All that text being blown up and the like is quite jarring to see, you know? For instance, if I launch CS 1.6 right now, it'll support 4K resolution but the assets remain as they were, but the text and UI gets adjusted accordingly at least.

ah yeah. got it.

what i meant, even if the US adopts a technology fast, it takes a while for the rest of the world to also do so.

that doesn't mean you'd need to suffer, though.

i assume that many things of the UI and text in Deeper are also made of premade Assets rather than embedded font renderers. I'd support a request for making that independent of resolution.

Ah, yeah. I figured as much and I agree, it does take adoption to other parts of the world to take a while, be it Europe or Asia or others.

And yes, I email'd it to them actually yesterday after waiting for so long. Let's see what comes out of it.

Thanks, though!

4K televisions are not exotic. You can buy them at Walmart for 200-300 dollars. They make great computer monitors. I'm using one now. I'm sure my demographic is greater than 10%.

any new about 4k , i used this same monitor for more than 4 years jejeej

Not that I know of, I talked to devs. way back and they said it's something on their list but far from a priority, sadly. I have yet to play the game because of it.
