It is like ray tracing. Ge-force 1660 and 2080 have hardware support for ray tracing which is cool but they are very expensive. In future when this feature will become common in games cheap GPU will have better performance than todays ray tracing monsters.
Before first important title which wont run without ray tracing will get released economical GPU's will be offering twice as much FPS as overclocked Ge-Force 2080.
Less than 10% of players use 4K. Feels exotic enough to me.
Assets doesn't have to be 4K, and that's understandable. Not even all AAA games out there do that, but simple resolution support for that is anything but hard to achieve. Games from 90s run at 4K native as soon as I launch them without any issues.
Deeper should do the same, though. For a really native 4k resolution, you'd either need the assets in 4k so the size ratios match, or have everything be small (which would give you a view range bonus i guess, and probably be hard to play). Or vector graphics, or 3D graphics, because those are calculated to match the pixels anyway, so changing resolution there is way easier.
How does deeper look when you start? is it fullscreen?
I can't comment on the 4k spread thing, but from my european perspective it takes ages for stuff to spread out of the US. And Screens like that are still mostly used for TV, even if they were 4k.
As for your questions, when I launch the game, it is in full screen and as the screenshot shows, only at 1080p, sadly.
I am definitely not expecting 4K assets from this game, just support enough that it can run in 4K native instead of 1080p. All that text being blown up and the like is quite jarring to see, you know? For instance, if I launch CS 1.6 right now, it'll support 4K resolution but the assets remain as they were, but the text and UI gets adjusted accordingly at least.
what i meant, even if the US adopts a technology fast, it takes a while for the rest of the world to also do so.
that doesn't mean you'd need to suffer, though.
i assume that many things of the UI and text in Deeper are also made of premade Assets rather than embedded font renderers. I'd support a request for making that independent of resolution.
And yes, I email'd it to them actually yesterday after waiting for so long. Let's see what comes out of it.
Thanks, though!
