I just spent 2 hours opening packs
Been playing this game for a few days, got my store up to level 37 and it's finally making decent money every day. I had around $25k in the bank after paying my bills and restocking and figured I'd buy some pack boxes to open and try to pull some high value cards.

At this store level I had access to 64 pack boxes all the way down to rare destiny packs, so I purchased 3 such boxes of each card type. Doing the math that's 18 boxes for a total of 1152 packs. I knew when I started that it was going to take a while, but I was not prepared for the fact that it was going to take me 2 whole hours to open them all.

This game really needs a way to open packs in bulk. Expecting players to spend this much time just opening packs seems unreasonable to me. Having to open the box, taking out packs until your hands are full and then opening them individually just takes way too long when you have the money to actually buy a decent amout of packs to open. It's fine early game when you can only buy a 32 pack box every day or so to open yourself, but at the point where I'm at it's just rediculous. Escpecially considering store level 37 is mid game at most.

At that's not to mention that I didn't even get that many good pulls. Out of the 8064 cards those packs contained, I got 1 or 2 cards at $3k+, about 5 or 6 around the $500 mark, maybe 20 that where in the $100-200 range and the rest where below that. So I'd have to spend that amount of time all over again just hoping to find something good. For a mechanic that is so prominent in the game, having that kind of time investment requirement associated with it is rather off putting. Not to mention that after spending all this time opening packs, my right index finger is now sore from holding down the mouse button all that time.

This could easily be remedied by allowing players to open every pack in a box while holding an opened box of packs. This wouldn't even have to be something that the player has access to at the start. Having it be an ability that is locked until you reach a certain store level, or requiring you to purchase some sort of station or tool that allows for bulk pack opening would work just fine.

This is of course just a suggestion and there could very well be a different solution to this that I have not thought of. I so, however, think that this is something that needs to be remedied.

I do like this game and am having a lot of fun playing it. Designing and building up my store and collecting the card have been a blast so far, but this was an unpleasant experience that left a sour taste in my mouth.

Thank you for reading my wall of text.

Yes. We've been discussing it on this other post.

It's one of the most common threads in here.
But until such time as the dev responds, you can use mods.

Personally, i think given there are mods to handle it, I'd rather see the dev work on new features primarily. But conversely, it may be wise to address so that the forum doesn't just get more and more of these threads.

Do mods and cheats disable achievements? Or can I just cheat till store level 100 and get the achievement?

Mods don't seem to disable achievements.

There's certainly "cheaty" mods but I don't consider mods for opening packs to be one of them. There's no game play involved in opening packs, it's just a real life time sink. Just my opinion, of course.

Thanks, I'll give the mod a try.

I'm of the opinion that the dev should address this in the base game though. A lot of people don't use mods, and could be turned off from giving the game a chance because of the inconvenience. It's not exactly a great selling point for a game about collecting card that you spend 2 hours opening packs, expecially for a game with a steam achievement for opening 10000 packs. Without mods, you'd be expected to spend 20 hours in game doing nothing but opening packs if my math holds up.

Either way, mods will work for now until the devs decide to do something about it, if they choose to

Agree. Additionally, I recently found out that keeping LMB pressed to open packs and, when the cards are being drawn from the opened pack, tabbing out the game and back in this locks the opening sequence so it continues automatically. Thus, you do not need to constantly press LMB and can use the spare time to check things in the internet, put away dirty dishes or alike. Repeat.

Once you get to a shop level with a register persona and stocker it becomes almost moot as you can open packs while the store is open. once you get to 2 registers and 2 stockers around level 35 you could almost go on auto order at night. Bring in your card pack boxes before opening. then open while your shelves are stocked and registers are manned.. just open packs

You could try just not being a dumbass wasing your time with low tier cards and spend a little more on the best cards you have unlocked. By the time you get to legendary cards they absolutely pay for themselves. With or without mods that is obviously the best time and money investment.

how is it that I have played 31 hours, have over 1000 unique cards over the base and destiny sets, but have never gotten a ghost card?

Bad RNG perhaps, hard to tell. The amount of packs you open is what matters, not the amount of hours you have in game.

common cards are much more valuable for me so nah :P legendaries are only useful for selling to customers thus far for me

Personally I feel that the 2500 card achievement is the ultimate accomplishment at this point in development. Currently at 2435 and while it is time consuming I am enjoying the challenge.

Of course, with the next update we will have the ability to buy/trade with customers. Going to be interesting to see if we can specify to sellers what cards we are looking to buy or trade for via the in game settings.

This should make it easier to hit 2500. Maybe some day 2700.

I hit the 1,000 pack achievement not too long ago, so ~1,200 packs opened to date.
Exactly 2 Ghost cards.
