What makes more customers show up?
What leads to more customers coming to the shop? Does expanding do it? Stocking more or more expensive items?

expand

The answer is two fold.

#1, you have a maximum number of customers that can be in your shop at any moment. That number increases as you level up and as you buy expansions. (Shop B expansions don't count). The hard limit is set at 28, you'll never have 29 customers in your shop.

#2, when it comes to your daily total, more customers at the same time does help. But making it so they don't spend an eternity in your shop is important. That means reducing queues at the register(s), for example, and some other optimisations that I'll leave to you to find. Whatever keeps customers in your shop a bit longer means a smaller total at the end of the day.

Yep. Get them in and out ASAP. Getting rid of all my play tables net me over 30 more customers a day. (from 128-130 to around 160 a day)

I did 2 test days now. One with play tables, and one without. I did upgrade the play tables to 28$/h.
Day with playtables: 99 visitors; 60 customers; 49 sells = profit 2969$
50 players; 85h played = profit 2386$
Day without tables : 123 visitors; 105 customers; 89sells= profit 5332$

so all in all its nearly the same profit and it doesnt matter wich way you go ?

If y have alot of players tables sell them. I sold all mine all but 2.

My profit jumped way up. Play tables eat away at the volume of custerms coming in and out quickly
