Whats the difference between basic and rare packs?
This might be obvious to some but i dont really meddle with cards myself. Are the difference just price? Do you get different cards in them or do you just get a flat increase in chance of pulling rares? Like you could pull the same rare on basic but you get a higher chance in a rare pack? Is it worth opening rare packs instead of just basic ones?

Unlike (most?) real life trading cards packs, each tier of packs has different tiers of cards in them. You'll only find cards tagged "Common" in normal packs, cards tagged "Rare" in rare packs, cards tagged "Epic" in epic packs and so on.

They contain different card sets.

For whatever reason each pack type has only one particular tier of evolution forms. Meaning that, if this card game were a real game, you would effectively have to buy a bunch of each pack type just to build a basic deck.

I tend to forget that's a thing since I've been using a mod that makes all pack types contain all types of cards, with a chance based on the pack's tier. So basic will mostly have basic cards but a small chance of rare, smaller for epic and minimal for Legendary, and Legendary packs have the opposite - maximum chance of Legendary cards and minimal chance of basic.

You know, like 99% of the TCGs I've seen and collected IRL work. :/

I've seen basic cards come out of legendary packs, though they still have the "legendary" icon on them.

I think it's just a tiering system where high tier cards only come out of more expensive packs. By "tier" I don't mean evolution level, but I mean as in some cards are probably just straight up better than others, with a higher power budget for the same evolution level. Most of these high tier cards are evolutions though.

Any card company doing this IRL and tiering their cards by pack pricing, and requiring multiple packs to get a full set, would be seen as such a shameless cash grab. I think the logic is that some 10 year old kid will get a bunch of basic packs, open them up, find a tetramon he wants to evolve, but then will have to buy more expensive packs to do so. Luckily this is just a fictional product though.

Open your album, sort by number.
You'll see the Pignys all come from the base pack, on the symbol on the right of the card. Go to next page, Pigny's evolution LVL 2, they come from rare pack. Pigny LVL 3, comes from the purple packs. And this continues for everything.

The packs have different card sets.
