The two versions of what happened to that one (and only that one) Pokemon mod for this game are that either "big bad Nintendo took it down" which would make continuing development of the mod grounds for facing Nintendo's ninja lawyers, or the one that's more likely, that the mod author got angry at people critiquing the mod and took it down, which may mean that out of spite, the mod isn't being developed.

Also, in either cases, anyone publicly providing links for it may face retaliation (from either an angry multi-national game company, or an angry modder. Not sure which one's worse.)

There's a handful of different Pokemon mods though. You should check them out and see if one of them is a good replacement.

I find it hard to believe that the big N would be bothered by a mod for an indie game. I'll read all the "he said she said" available, but at the end of the day, one of many variations of "Occam's Razor" applies. The simplest explanation would be "mod maker got mad that people were critiquing their mod and took it down" not "multi-national company with enough money to buy my country felt threatened by a free mod for a low-sales indie game."

But people's free to FlatEarth about how Nintendo is out to get anyone who dares slightly mimicking the concept of "monsters you catch and train for battle." Which is a thing that wasn't invented by Pokemon, either...

I don't have the latest version of RedH3X's Pokemod, but the TCG: CSS version 4.4 is still functional even with version 0.50.1. The only issue is that the developer has not included Pokémon skins for the three new monsters that have been added to the card trading system. In my opinion, Nintendo's TCG on mobile is not a direct competitor. I own both games and have not spent a single penny on the intrusive features of Pokemon Pocket.

Considering I have collected 185 out of 226 of the cards since starting it when it released, depending on RNG, I can see myself done with having every card in another month or two. I have completed all the solo battles, and I'm not really interested in the PVP/VS for the card battles. Once I have all the cards, the game no longer offers any additional content. On the other hand, TCG:CSS still has a significant amount of content planned for the future. Therefore, unless Pokémon Pocket introduces additional solo battles and cards, the mobile game is merely a quick cash grab, similar to Pokémon GO, and will gradually fade into obscurity until Nintendo releases another unique game.

The mod maker (REDH3X) specified that the Nintendo/Pokemon legal team contacted him specifically (and likely others) and threatened legal action if the Pokemon mod wasn't removed because it competes with Pokemon TCG Pocket. Just wanted to clear that up.

Here's a quick screenshot of that conversation.

There's other Pokemon mods that, for some reason, are still around. You could try those.

Just don't go advertising them to everyone everywhere and they should stay around. If the threatening was real, it only happened because that particular mod was shown by one too many 'content creators' in a short time. As the saying goes, "the nail that sticks out gets hammered down."

This is in such a high demand that it wouldn't surprise me if the community just has these files and every time one gets removed another 3 pop up like a hydra. That being said, i also read claims from certain poke mod developers that they don't come after you as long as you make 0 money from it and it's not a pokemon digital game but TCG only. We will see.

I think when the Pokemon mod was out, was when the game was really in it's limelight, and everyone was streaming it with the Pokemon mod. With tons of big streamers streaming it with the Pokemon mod, was pretty easy for nintendo to find out.

Now, with less streaming going over with it, Nintendo are probably less likely to find new mods using Pokemon, why newer mods are popping up.

which is hilarious cuz playing this got me back into physical TCG, but the the news broke of nintendo taking this mod down so I canceled my pre-orders for the new sets and found a different TCG to play.

I dont understand where nintendos head is at with this kind of stuff, its literally free marketing for them

Some quadrillionaires aren't happy just having a quadrillion. They also want to make sure nobody else has the chance to make money, unless said money is being made as a minor byproduct of themselves making more quadrillions to add to the pile. And making a free product out of something they do is obviously not making anyone any quadrillions, so it must be destroyed.

And yes, I'm aware the big N does not have "quadrillions," not even the weaksauce 'Imperial' kind of quadrillions that are missing quite a few zeros to be real quadrillions. But remove as many zeros as you want from the figure, and the fact still remains that some people get more joy out of making sure others stay poor, than getting rich themselves.

I agree, it's also self preservation. If everybody is rich nobody is. You're kinda identifying a flaw in an economic system here. If everyone has more money the value of money goes down and the value of goods go up.
