Stacked Boxes
In my warehouse/shop B, I organise and stack my boxes with stock in them for both shops A+B on top of the shelves ready for the next day, but I find that whenever I quit the game and come back into it at a later time, most of my boxes, those stacked three high or more, end up on the floor, leaving me with a mess to clean up every time. It would be nice if stock boxes stacked better, or snapped together when stacked on top of each other, similar to the shelves, so the physics engine doesn't treat them as 'rag dolls'.

If you were using actual storage shelves, you wouldnt get this problem.

storage shelves take up a lot of room and only store a few boxes. I have over 70+ boxes of stock stacked up atm, so not an option. It is merely an oversight of the dev's not to disable the 'rag doll' physics for the stock boxes, or similar setting, nothing more.

You can fit 8 large storage shelves beside each other along the "shorter wall". This can hold 64 different products/2 boxes each and a total of 128 boxes, and twice this if you go for 16 shelves with maxing the "short walls" in both shop A and B.

You are obviously allowed to ask and wish for whatever you like, but you are literally asking for a solution to an "issue" which there already is a game feature that fixes it.

except that it doesn't suit my shop layout. I don't want to fill my back shop with big bulky warehouse shelves. If it works for you then fine but not everybody wants to set up their shop the way you do. The ability is there to place boxes on top of the single shelves so all I'm saying is they should stack better so they don't end up all over the floor.

You can play how you want, and that's what you should do, But, the solution to your issue already exists in the warehouse shelves, that you choose to not use them is very much something you can do, but it isn't up to the dev to fix as they have already provided the answer. It's very unlikely it will change any time soon, if ever.
Jack Nov 9, 2024 @ 3:25am
actually, the solution to the issue is to fix the problem. simply saying that there are big bulky warehouse shelves available does not fix the issue - its merely an option to use them if it suits you and for me it does not. I do agree though, it probably won't get fixed, but it is still annoying.
TheVillan Nov 9, 2024 @ 3:31am
The solution is the shelves though which is why they exist and nearly everyone uses them. It's absolutely your prerogative not to use them, and you should definitely play how you want. But as this is early access and only 1 dev we all have to either adjust to how the game is or put up with little annoyances. And we probably all have at least one!

totally understand and agree with you. I am not knocking the game at all or the dev and I for one am very happy to be playing it in early access. I have owned and operated my own computer business as a sole trader for nearly 15 years and the game mechanics in this game are as close as you can get to running a real shop. The game as a whole is very enjoyable to play and very well designed. It is only when you have both shops fully expanded and lined wall to wall with shelves stocked to the brim with nearly every item in the game that it gets a little tricky to keep up.

I dont play that way, i only presented the numbers and how it could be placed. 12 shelves is enough to host 2 boxes of every single product in the game, you had "+70 boxes", so in you case 5 shelves would theoretically hold them all.

And I also wrote "You are obviously allowed to ask and wish for whatever you like" - My point is that you are literally asking for a solution to a problem where there already is a solution for. You not choosing this solution, is all on you.

Dude, you deserve 1star review for each box in the floor each day, you are literally litering when you have shelves in the game, I have every item in the game in shelves your excuses are futile:beverage:

I stack my boxes, too, but never run into an issue.

Layer them in a triangle. I never had a problem as long as they were stacked in a triangle.

Yami, did you not read my point earlier? My shop layout does not allow room for the warehouse shelves. You have a layout that you are happy with and that's fine, but it does not work for me. I merely pointed out the fact that the boxes don't stack which is an oversight because obviously they were intended to, which is why they can be placed on top of the shelves in the first place. To say my excuses are futile because I play the game differently than you is purely ignorant of the fact and perhaps you should keep your comments to yourself. There is a possibility however that I may have a glitch, especially if MIZMOR can stack their boxes without any issues and no one else seems to be having the same issue.

I'm pretty sure this is a glitch right where if you stack boxes everywhere so that customers have to walk past them all, even empties that the customers think you have a lot of stock and buy more stuff right? Not very practical if you want the boxes at the bottom...
Also read that having storage shelves lowers revenue as well.
They probably won't stack because they won't physlock to each-other because game objects are meant to attach to the shelves, not to each-other. In most games objects will clip thru walls and floors and with each-other and cause problems. Whenever you load into a game all the loose objects just spawn in together so it's always going to be messy lol.
Like people say, you're welcome to try but there's really no need when you have shelves and likely they'll add more store expansion in the future anyway.
Nevertheless I'd like to see what your setup looks like and maybe others would like to try it as well. This other person may be using a mod you mention
