The easier solution is to not stock new things during shop hours. Which is how I've avoided this bug/issue. Not having the newesest item in the world won't break your shop, I swear (in fact only selling singles can still get you to level 100. Painfully and slowly, but it will get you there.)

You shouldn't put new items on shelves during the day. Time does not move before opening (8:00 AM) and after 9:00 PM, so you have all the time you need to do all the logistics and furniture arranging during those two "breaks" in customer influx.

you only have yourself to blame for doing it during working hours. This is the risk you took, and it failed.

I'm not sure what your picture is supposed to be showing.... It says $0 because you haven't rung anything up yet. Also, in my experience, customers can't take anything off a shelf until it has a price set on it, which means you must have had the price set to something already.

They can definitly take products that doesnt have a price. I just did this to demonstrate, i ordered a product that i never have sold before (hence the red ! on the price tag), so it didnt have a "price", yet a customer immidetly took all 4 of them that were on the shelf.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I'm sitting here wondering how you have enough customers that they're immediately ripping everything off your shelf D:

If you really want to put up a new item during shop hours that you've never sold before, here are the steps:

1. Put up a new item. (Red exclamation mark appears)
2. Put the item back in the box. (The mark would remain)
3. Put the box on the floor. (Customers wouldn't take them)
4. Set the price

If you have workers, just put the box on the warehouse shelf and they will fill up the marked shelf. Otherwise, do it yourself.

Dont need many customers. Having few shelves is the key.

I've had this happen before. It just sells at the default price, not for free. You just won't make any profit from it over the cost it took to order it. In the future, if you're gonna put new items on a shelf during the day, put one single item on the shelf, drop the box, quickly set the price, and then put the rest up.

Note a no price on item sells at market value, not for free.

This is just plain wrong. Don’t reply to a thread if you haven’t even tested the issue they are having. The second an item is on a shelf, priced or not, it can be purchased by customers for market value. This price cannot be changed once there customer has picked the item up. It’s a dumb design to that I am hoping they fix before the full release.
