Starting Obduction for the first time: VR or not VR?
As a huge fan of Myst and Riven (Exile was good, Brad Dourif was excellent) starting Obduction for the first time is a bit of a special thing to do. I am really struggeling with the question if I should start the game in normal mode and just play and start the VR experience later or if the first impression should be in VR.

What do you think about it?

Since I got my Rift 9 months ago, I can't play on a screen anymore. I feel like I'm just a spectator of the game, I don't feel immersed at all.
So I began Obduction in VR, and it's such a beauty ! I chose to move by TP and snap turn, it's very comfortable (if you have a Rift, the locomotion is as good as in Robo Recall)

And how is the sharpness of the graphics ?
For me they are blurry , and i don't know how to get rid of this .
AA in this game is a hell to manage , have you some tricks to get better results ?

I love playing with my Vibe in VR. The graphics are amazing. But the only thing is that I have some issues getting puzzles to work. Like getting the cart to Kaptar to shut that laser off. When I try to activate the warp portal from the cart I can't reach the transport button to teleport. I always have to go to the regular game for that one part. Otherwise the VR is a great experience. I do suggest a first playthrough on regular, at least with the toughest puzzles, in order to understand them, but then a second game VR is awesome. Maybe someone has suggestions for that mine cart problem I have on my Vibe. I could just have my settings messed up or something.

I'm not there yet, but I think I'm not far from what you tell, I can see the cart at least. When I'm done with it, I'll tell you if it works fine for me (I have a Rift) ;-)

I started on Rift and will stick with it. Graphics would be better without but the added sense of immersion is worth it, I think. Moving around is tougher on Rift, either your standard teleport or recently-added locomotion (which makes me a little dizzy). I am having a few issues - some photos too dark, annoying texture pop-in but I don't know if these are related to the VR version or the game itself.

I also started in VR but had switched to flat mode then. Movements, interactions etc feels too clumsy in VR, graphics looks blured (that is usual thing for VR). So I've decided to play in normal mode so far.

Hi
I have a rift, can anyone here comment on how well (if at all) the oculus window pinning works in the steam version of the game?. I am not patient enough for advanced puzzle solving, so will be playing this just for the story/experience/mechanics and will use a guide for the puzzles. (please dont judge its just how i roll in these games)

however in vr using a guide will be a PITA hence i am thinking about using the window pinning option in VR that comes with the beta oculus home.

thanks
