- Use either photoshop or GIMP and make sure you have DDS plugin installed.
- extract the Unitflags.tex files to a .dds
- when having made your changes -> DO NOT compress the file
- use "RGBA8" as format
- do not generate or use existing Mipmaps.
- having done this, import the .tex from the newly edited .dds file, and save the .assets file in the game directory.
- startup and see the changes ;)
- Do just as described above - with one exception:
When saving, make sure to compress as RXGB (DXT5), and set format as default.
Check out the artwork section.
The graphics aren't "hard" to edit, it just takes a lot of time with photoshop or GIMP. That's why you see especially that the redcoats are a bit "rough" - my patience sometimes runs low.
I'm still trying to find the files that designated sprites to units - if I can edit them I can make different units - say, Continental blue coats, militia, sharpshooters, rangers, highlanders etc.
But then you have the map....... a story in itself
and then there're leaders and OOB
Hell, I might even throw in some frenchies ;)
My short term plan is to learn to assign sprites, leader and unit names. then go on to the OOB, and lastly the map.
My goal is to make, say, a Battle of Brandywine or Bunker Hill - but that's a couple of milestones away.
Happy for the support so far.
