And their latest game, Napoleon's Wars, has the exact same crashing problems, but even worse than CW 2. I am routinely getting crashes right out of the gate at turn 1 when I proceed to next turn. Both these games are unplayable in their current states. I spent 50 dollars on this game, and can't make it past turn 3.
I have a LOT of wargames in my library, and NONE of them ever have these issues. So what is AGEOD doing wrong?
I know that a majority of players aren't getting these issues, but enough players are that AGEOD should be doing something to rectify these problems. I have no idea whether AGEOD has closed betas to iron out these bugs before release. But testing this game on multiple platforms might be correcting these issues before the game is released to the public.
As far as correcting these issues goes, I don't have the time to be going into my files, copying the game logs, then logging into the AGEOD forums and posting the logs there. I have done this before, and none of the issues were resolved. I won't be doing that any more. Many other games have automatic error logging, where a simple click of a button sends the game logs to the developer. Why can't AGEOD have a feature like this in their games, given their inherent bugginess?
I thought maybe their new Napoleon game wouldn't have the crashing issue, and I bought it as soon as I got their email advertisement for it. Huge mistake. I feel like I'm doing beta tests with both CW2 and Napoleon.
I won't say I've bought my last AGEOD game, as when they work, they work magnificently. But that is the end for me until I see some progress in resolving crashes and more efficient customer support.
I'm planning to get an AMD card this time around... Are people having issues with AMD/ATI cards? My guess is that many of these crashes are due to using integrated intel graphics cards on a laptop, which uses shared memory amoung other compromises. It could also be a driver issue, but I would never know because no one ever supplies that crucial information.
It does crash quite a bit. I just played today and it crashed randomly and I had to start a new game.
by the way i saw something about foreign intervention, what exactly do they mean there?
The Foreign invervention refers to having a European nation (France, England) join the war in support of the South. That was a huge fear of the North's during the war and even prompted Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. Once Lincoln made the war about race and the terrible institution of slavery, European nations were far less interested in being labeled as a slavery sympathizer so military intervention was far less likely.
