As long as your aware of the Bug the first tutorial has in it's first battle as mentioned in this forum. (Broken tutorial for example). I hope they are to patch that soon.. gets confusing to a beginner.
Even in the main gameplay I get a lot of "stalemate" battle results when it should not be a stalemate. . ??
1) Since this a turn based game (which i lke more because it feels more like chess and because my strategy is not affected by how fast I move around the map), not real time, how battles are like?
I move my army to attack an enemy posion an next turn I get an box telling the results or there is something else? Battles take just one turn (granted I dont know how much time a turn repressents) or two armies remain engaged for several turns if conditions are present?
2) Im brazilian and american civil war is not an histoy subject I know a lot (altough I know a few things).
What are other AGEOD titles that are cuurent generation with similar mechanics or level of complexity? (wouldnt like to buy an old game with outdated mechanics)
I was interested at Hannibal, terror of Rome, but according to my research this game seems even more complex than Civil War II?
IS that right?
2) Not sure on the other newer titles. But, this game takes place in the same time period of your Brazilian war against Paraguay. You face the same challenges of their era of warfare. So, you might get some historic feel for it if you get a chance.
P.S. Go to the AGEOD website and read some of the CW2 AARs people have written. It will give you a good indication of how the game plays out.
If you are interested in the the Russian Civil War, they have Revolution Under Siege. They also have a Spanish Revolution game called España 1936. Both of those games run off the same engine as CW2. They also have a new WW1 game coming out in a couple months. The Alea Jacta Est games are not overly complex in my opinion, they are easier than CW2. Pride of Nations and WW1G are probably their most complex games, but if you can play games like Hearts of Iron and Victoria, then you should be able to learn how to play most of AGEOD's games.
The bug has been confirmed by the developer so if it worked for you the first time through ... good for you. Did you follow the online video tutorial or the games text tutorial ? Does not matter really as the bug as been found by the game developer and will be patched for future first time buyers. :)
