Big Smash?
What exactly are the hammers tied to? Like, is it just the more shards gained on a run the more hammers you get from a Smash? Or is it more complicated than that?

This game could definitely benefit from a small wiki.

Yup hammers are gained purely from the total shards over the course of your current run. And from any buffs to hammer gain of course.
