Should there be gear based matchmaking?
The last few days my duo and I have been running around 5k - 7k kits. Pretty basic setups overall with snipers, shottys, blue shields, ect. A majority of the lobbies we are going into we get a free kit third that goes off and dies alone or just w keys then leaves. This leaves what feels like too often a 2v3 scenario against what always seems to be full squads of purple shields? Anyone else encountering this that plays with a duo and have any suggestions?

It would make sense but it comes with drawbacks as well, IMO.

The first being the dwindling population. At this point, most of those remaining are likely the seasoned players who have 100s of hours. I don't think there are that many newcomers these days. As such, gear based would mean that the few newcomers would essentially be stuck in very long queues due to their lack of gear as well as the a lack of new players critical mass. That's probably why Bungie cooked up the sponsored kit only queue, so that newcomers wouldn't be left out.

The other issue also relates to the first one. If the overwhelming majority of the playerbase are seasoned players, having gear based MM could fustrate them. If they lose all of their high end stuff, they would want to quickly try and regain them. To that end, they would prefer to be matched up with geared players so that they can try to kill them and take their purple/gold gear. Even though it would be an uphill battle, those seasoned players at least have the experience to somewhat even the gear odds. Intentionally excluding them from being matched with higher gear players would essentially extend the grind for them.
whats the the point of getting the upper hand?

Very good points! I guess I just want a duo mode permanently since having to play fill just feels like a massive disadvantage :( wish they would have thought about the duo playerbase a bit more

Not looking for an upperhand. More of looking for a fair team balance so the scales are not always so one sided feeling. Or just a duos mode permanently so the fault is only our own if we do not bring enough

I can empathise. I do hope duo becomes a permanent fixture as well.
Gear limits, more like. Like perimeter should be limited to greens only and dire to blues. You can brings purples to Outpost and Cryo.

Without this, the game has rampant seal clubbing in early contract areas.

and with it any real progression is removed and I might as well be playing arc raiders.

You're just a basic ass contrarian, you don't have any legit opinions of your own.

Gear limits would be tough, but I hear where you are coming from. Since they seem to be trying limited modes with duos, ranked locations, and the new dire marsh sponsored kit mode it could be interesting to see a mode where a loadout maximum limit could be allowed? This way sweats can still stomp through if they like on any map while others can feel like they stand a bit more of chance

I get where you come from, but I fear keeping steady players will be tough later in the wipes as time max kits a lot of people out and then newer players are left completely stranded. The limited modes like the new dire marsh can help that but it is not a permanent solution IMO

Your projecting (for real) thats what you do as your entire personality is based around your party.

Go back to arc if you want the casual features, you want every feature from arc in this game so why dont you just play that instead ?

I want more people able to play this awesome game and you clearly want it dead.
yes it's a good idea, but the devs aren't open to feedback.
