Marathon

Marathon

The problem is not DEI, but the wrong gameplay
Bungie + BattlEye + PvP + Tarkov-like

Players have already experienced this game before they buy it.

They knew to put "From HALO and Destiny team" in their ads. But this game imitates neither HALO nor Destiny, it's just a copycat of The Division.

Here is a thing, when was the last time you got some satisfaction out of playing PvP in Destiny?

Even if you haven't bought it yet, your memory already tells you that there is only disappointment ahead because you have already played these elements.

Destiny PvP was kind of trash to the point it made me realize, what is the point of PvP. You go against Cheaters, Elitist and Sweats.. no time for fun

Tarkov-like games are only fun during the CBT period, and then quickly turns bad when they are released to the public.

There is no reason it cannot be both OP :HESSTILLGOOD:
Extraction shooters are done to death, people are bored of going into a match only to get wasted by someone with insanely powerful gear. Or 3rd partied, or exit camped... or grinding and grinding only for it all to get wiped...

It's literally Destiny mechanics with Apex legends gameplay and Tarkov gamemode.

I think that's a pretty good combination.

dope pfp brother, amazing anime and great character, bato is based. but yes marcus is right, extraction is pretty tiring, all the stress to go in a game only to die and lose everything in 30 seconds gets fun only for a little bit. The Cycle and Marauder were both extraction shooters, look at them now. One is dead, the other is dying.

Just watch some streams, People already getting beamed across the map and their team wiped in seconds. Looks fun cant wait. lol
The real problem is aim assist. It needs to be removed completely.

Tbh, Destiny and Halo have always had a pretty intense aim assist, especially on controller.
Can't say I am surprised. Do wish they'd put a bit more emphasis on mechanical advantage like aiming.

TTK often determines what kind of game it is; lower TTK often being slower games where tactics and planning is important and higher TTK games often being more about mechanical skill, like movement or aiming, in the firefight. Bungie games are often the latter, but they always have aim assist which works against that.

EDIT: Here's a paper that describes what I mean[drive.google.com] a little better.

Mate it's the ugliest game I've ever seen. Who wants to stare at this for hours on end. Im just here to laugh at Bungie.

Both would be the best option to take, art looks interesting imo but online pvp only makes it an instant ignore.

Hilariously those who would love the gameplay hate the art, those who like the art hate the gameplay, those that are ok with both is concord level of support.

i hate this in destiny 2. i want to swing past an enemy but aim assist says no.
dont forget that the entire damn series was built around great story telling in a sci fi single player game, and theyve turned it into this watered down trash.

- Havent even written story to it yet (they at least fessed up to it)
- current setting, besides the eye watering clown colored roblox, looks nothing like the marathon universe
- hides behind their bought simpering streamers who try to say its 'still an alpha you are playing' even though the damn game is coming out in a little more THAN 5 MONTHS

This game is nothing more than a doomed fad chasing exercise wearing a skin suit in the hopes of attracting nostalgia. There is nothing unique about this game that stands out other than the nauseating art 'style'.
The only thing going for it is this could be one of the first console extraction games, so its going to sucker the little kiddies who havent had the opportunity to play a better version

I cant see any angle where this isnt a suckers game unless they have been hiding another build of this that is magically somehow a year and a half further along in development, with a coherent point and less childish handholding aimbot gameplay

- They won't be writing any story for it. Those interviews are misleading as ♥♥♥♥. They'll add more lore for when you finish more contracts. Stuff that happens in the menu. The faction representative just lazily dumping some lore on you in the form of text. That's it. That's all. That's not story and that's not narrative, but Bungie are too weak to admit that. It's just more lore tabs that they love so much from Destiny.

- But didn't you hear, bro? It's alpha, bro. They'll totally overhaul the graphics from the ground up in 5 months, bro. Trust me bro. Honestly, my issue isn't even the graphics, whatever, ignore the graphics. It's how empty and bland the maps are. The two maps are the same, there is no interesting difference in how they look OR play. That's crazy. Environmental storytelling is completely lacking. I'm supposed to care about the mystery of the colony downfall? How? It's the same buildings over and over again, same rooms, just slightly different layouts. Zero objects of interest inside.

- Even with all the money they funneled into marketing and streamers, the interest evaporated after a single day of alpha. People played for a few hours and quit. Even the streamers are moving on, there's barely any viewers on Twitch at this point. It's all so damn bland and boring, nobody can force themselves to stream or watch it. Not even for money.

So yeah, unless this build is just not the game at all, and Bungie comes out later to say "SIKE! You thought this crap was Marathon? No lol, we'd never produce anything like that! Come on, beta now live for the REAL Marathon, let's go!"... I just don't see this going anywhere. I'll certainly rather buy BL4 once we get to the release date.
