Enjoy the ride.
Two things to consider.
1. If they would have named this game anything else, no one would have cared a single iota about the legacy being spit on because they wouldn't be spitting on any legacy.
2. If they would have named this game anything else, no one would give a flying F about this game.
I hope Bungie burns to the ground. Not because they are spitting on a they legacy of a great game, not because they are some cash grabbing organization only in it for the money.
(They are both of those things for the record.)
I hope Bungie burns to the ground because they have become a sad pathetic shadow of what they used to be and they don't even deserve to retain their name. This company is no longer Bungie, they are Microsoft Gaming..... Bungie division.
Edited to remove my horrible run on sentence.
The artwork and advertisements look great, the trailers are solid, and the concept seemed interesting. But then the gameplay reveal dropped… and it just looked off. Washed out, yet somehow overly saturated—like someone cranked the digital vibrance to 100 and used some tool to run Destiny 2 on PC in potato mode. Watching the gameplay, it looked slow, boring, bland—and honestly, just like Destiny 2.
I’m not saying Destiny 2 is a bad game, but it’s been around for so long, and Bungie keeps recycling the same guns, abilities, animations, and sounds. It’s like they’re trying to do something new, but it never really is.
And a “hero extraction shooter”? That doesn’t sound enjoyable in the slightest. The market is already oversaturated with hero shooters and failed attempts at decent extraction shooters. The fact that it isn’t free-to-play is bizarre too. I don’t think the $40 price tag is unreasonable, but knowing Bungie, it’s going to be packed with the most heinous microtransactions known to man.
This whole thing just feels like something Sony has pushed them to rush out. Most of us know by now that Bungie has been a money sink for every company that’s owned them, and Marathon feels like it could be make-or-break for them—before Sony pulls the plug and swallows the rest.
And honestly, I doubt much is going to change between the closed alpha (NA only—slow clap) and whatever kind of open test they’re planning next. At this point, it just feels like we’re watching a familiar cycle repeat itself.
But hey, at least they’re not forcing people to have a PSN account for this one, right? RIGHT!?
you know that destiny 3 is coming right ?
ho yeah the game who everybody complain about because it's an EXTRACTION SHOOTER
so they left project payback ?
