We call the tall dark figure the "Hidebehind" btw, but Shadow monster is cool!

Here some anwsers in spoiler formatting to avoid spoiler for others!

The Hidebehind doesn't light strong lights. The strong lights in the auction house are the ceiling lights!
So when he chases you, run under a ceiling lights to make him disappear! It ll give you a little bit of time to try to get your objectifs rights
