Hard in the beginning
Hello everybody,
I have an issue in the beginning of the game and I would need some help/advice.

At the start of the game, I got a few rifle (FN FAL) and government clothes.
I tried to enter the city under disguise and got attacked by every government troop I met.
Even when I had the dialogue where they ask for my papers, check me for contraband etc... Every troop in the city engaged me as an enemy.

I started again, tried to fight through. My FN FAL did awful damage, like 1 damage every shot. And this is crazy as FN FALs, as I tried them in real life, are like powerful battle rifles. Their shots are devastating.

I gave up thinking that I'm not supposed to attack the governemnt from the start and restarted again.

I went West. And I found a village with bandits robbing the people. Did the mission, got the car etc... I kept going left, and now I'm attacked by each freaking rebel squad I meet. My car is going slow. Like 4km/h. I refueled. And I get attacked each two pixels I do. I left a huge number of stashes in my path as my car is full.

I love this game. But is this mod bugged/unfinished? Am I wasting my time playing it? Should I stick to the original game?

I'm kind of lost. I just want to reach a city, sell what I looted on the enemy and start doing missions and discovering the factions... But I'm stuck in the jungle with nowhere to sell my stuff and with an extremely slow advance...

The guerrilla prologue is just a few missions, after that your relationship with the government resets back to neutral and you end up in Puerto Viejo meeting Alex Rezviy like in the original game.

Do not use those rifles. They are broken and rusted and whatnot. Every pistol you can get is far better.

Take off that uniform or the rebels will attack you. You will get a rebel uniform from the guerilla leader after the first mission.

The car is broken. You can not fix it in the field.

The FN FAL is fine, even though it's damaged.... It's the ammo, the soldier from the start is using bad ammo.. Sometimes the soldiers use better ammo, so you may check the ammo in their weapon if you kill them..

If you want to go to the city in the west, Ciudad de Oro, make sure all of your playable character use government soldier uniform... You can also go south across the border to Cali Cantinos to look for better weapon... But be aware of armed border patrol after you cross..

You might have attacked/shot them by accident, that's maybe the reason they attacked you... And about the car.. The engine is damaged... You cannot use it pretty far... Only back to the rebel camp... You're not supposed to take it anywhere else... Unless you got pretty high mechanic skill to repair it...

Well, I came back to the starting point. And I wasted hours of gameplay for nothing.
My mistake is that I left camp after the attack.
I had to stay and do this sneaky introduction/tutorial.

About the car, I took it too far and its broken now. I think I will have to "push" it back to the rebels at the starting point.

ANNOYING!

Theres a trick to the car. Leave it in the open world, travel half a sector, enter sector, right clickt car key, select the car, then leave it again by right clicking and selecting leave car.

This way you can advance faster while spawning the car and leavin it again..

IDF? FARC? FSA? Brigada Asalto 2506? Selous Scouts? Or even scarier, an American?

Run HLAconfig.exe in the game directory, you can disable hunger, vehicle breakdowns and fuel usage, even random encounters on the world map. (many missions depend on random encounters, careful with that)
Makes replaying the prologue smoother, since the game doesn't give you a way to deal with those advanced mechanics this early.

Random tip, as you're traveling across the world map, check what sector you're in from time to time. You can find a hunting camp and get your first backpack there.

@Vollinger, no such thing. Just a normal shooting range in France with a bud who likes to waste money on guns and ammo.
And the FN Fal is like an AK. Heavy bullets, lots of energy. You just have to look at the rifle.

I found better weapons in the game. Chinese AK knockoffs. And they kick ass. Accurate too. And I added some twin mags with some duct tape for fast reloads and easy logistics.

And I will try your tips to move the car. It's really annoying, I will try to disable these functions as I can't handle them at the beginning.

Vehicle breakdowns are actually really useful early on because they help you get a lot of mechanic skill fast. The first Willis however is not meant to last longer than the way back to the forest camp anyway..

You can repair and refit the used up FN-FAL to enable full auto, and you can clean the bad ammo in order to get regular ammo. When you do that the used up FN-FAL becomes a better option over the Norinco rifles due to high minimum damage. Theres a bunch of guides explaining all that by the way.

To fix 7.62x51 ammo damage:

1. Take the crap 50% gunpowder government ammo into your hand.

2. Right click ammo and select >CLEAN AND SORT<

3. Enjoy having ammo that can kill things again.

To make a better FN FAL you need:

1. 8 total of the Used-Up FN FAL (between multiple characters or in vehicle if needed)

2. A FN FAL book (you can get one for free from the rebel camp quartermaster when talking to him with a Used Up FN FAL in your hand)

3. A weapon repair kit (You can usually find one from the boxes in the rebel camp)

4. With all of these in your inventory, right click FN FAL and select >PICK THE BEST SAMPLE FROM THE BATCH<

5. Enjoy your new FN FAL with full auto and 70+ accuracy.
