Selknam Defense

Selknam Defense

Statistiche:
This appears to be very similar to Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten
What is unique about this game that sets it apart, please? I love Defender's Quest.

Is this more of the same, or unique and sexy in its own right?

Also - it shows as a new release, but it is not available for purchase yet.

This is even more similar to the countless, and I mean literally countless, tower defense games that came before it. I still remember when all the games like this releasing lately used to be considered flash games :/

Unless it's the same guy that made this game :
http://www.kongregate.com/games/undefined/protector-iv

THIS is a total rip-off. I mean, seriously, try the link I shared for 1 minutes, only here, in a paid game for 9€ you only get 12 units and very few upgrades, as far as the presentation video says.

Total scam. That said, unless it's made by the guy who created "protector" games. In this case, well, 9€ is really expensive for such a small td game..

Fun game :)

I'm pretty sure games that were made using Adobe Flash makes a game be considered a Flash game.
This was apparently developed in C++ using the Marmalade SDK[www.madewithmarmalade.com]. The game may or may not suck but "Flash" isn't some generic term.

Honestly, it doesn't really matter what it was made with. For the past couple years, as a side effect from the rise of indie games, the bar for making video games and selling them has lowered immensely. Games like Fez, or rogue Legacy, or They Bleed Pixels; those are good games. However, there have also been games like this, Defenders Quest and Infectionator, that look, play, and have as much content as a FREE game that was made, and are still being made, on flash game sites. Hell, I've seen some Unity flash games look, feel, and have more content than some other games being SOLD. The line between flash game and indie game has become so blurred lately that it is difficult to justify selling stuff like this.
Defender's Quest is an awesome game. One of the best tower defense games I have ever played. I would definitely not lump it in with a bunch of junk games. Was there really a free version of Defender's Quest? I never heard about one.

They had a demo that played like...the first chapter on Kongregate, and probably other places. Defenders Quest is one of those that probably dances on the line of sellable and not. I know of some flash games that had so much content, or were close in content, to merit being sold. Go look up Clarence's Big Chance; if that had another couple levels that could have been a $10 game easy.

No it doesn't. 1000s of people have purchased DQ and it is one of the few indies on Steam where their forums are mostly glowing priase - rather than the usual rabble of garbage game, scam, shovelware nonsense that Valve has been cramming down our throats in 2014.

Defender's Quest is worth the money they ask and more.

I understand where you are coming from. I was just saying that Flash is a specific development environment and has associated framework. As an example Selknam Defense literally isn't a Flash game.

A Flash game is not a generic term to describe a "type of game" though Protector IV is in-fact literally a Flash game because it was deployed as a ShockWave Flash application.

Agreed, lumping Defenders Quest in with the rest of the shovelware garbage that has been coming out lately on Steam is ridiculous...

I agree, the bar has been lowered to the point I wonder if there even IS a bar anymore...but DQ is one hell of a good game!

The bar still exists outside of Steam. Valve got rid of their bar though in 2014.
lol Defenders Quest barely sellable? One of the best TD games on Steam?
Sheesh, I don't look at this for a few days and then a bunch of people create a bandwagon on my comment for Defenders Quest that misses the point. That if this was a decade ago people would laugh at the attempt to sell it, and there have been games of the quality of Defenders Quest made in flash, 100% free on flash game sites before. And now people seem to throw money at it because it flies under the indie title. It really doesn't matter the game and, hell, I even own a few games that could have probably been flash games, but my point about how standards have been lowered and lowered still stands.

Only because your comment was so very, very stupid.

I don't entirely see how it was stupid in the first place, though I'd appreciate it if the insults were kept to a minimum so this doesn't devolve into mud-slinging. But now that I've properly explained it, it should seem less stupid now, even to people who misunderstood it the first time, correct?
