The HDR toogle does make the game a lot "brighter" in certain sections, so i guess it might not have been properly playtested with the option off.... This version have working subtitles in cutscenes btw.
One time the game main menu was corrupted or would just display a green screen instead of the menu, but a simple reinstall of the game fixed this. I did install a lot of other crap since the last time I played it, so maybe I borked something.
Once the .exe is unwrapped, the CRC was identical to the steam version. Had to turn off gsync in nvidia control panel in order for the ingame vsync to work.

Another strange behaviour is that playing with Russian save files even break subtitles in the doctor sequence in lab2, I swear I had subtitles the first time I played that section.
I do remember having a few issues with the game when I played it on a q6600 and 5870 on Windows 7 64bit 10 years ago (US starforce release with a crack).. At the time I didnt know if it was my hardware or not.
This version needs XP SP2 mode or you may get the error below depending on your system configuration

Playing the various standalone version of this game, I have come to the conclusion that even the save files are language specific. As using a save file created in one version would break subtitles in another.
