yes they are insects that you can get with the hook once you unlock it
it was the same model in dodonko island in IW if you played it

isnt a secret to anyone at this point, but you are on a tropical island you gonna find the damn leeches here near lakes or maybe the ocean? thought i am not a biologist

Leeches couldn't be found near the ocean, it's salt water, lol!
They appear almost everywhere in the game.

Jelly fish? i saw a couple on a beach once but were white maybe is the dark time

These are bugs! In LAD 8, they have a side mode that is kinda playing on animal crossing, and these black things are one of the bug assets along with crickets, cicadas, beetles, and the butterflies. Perhaps they're for decor or perhaps there is a bug net? I think butterflies are an ingredient.
