This or Avowed?

Hi guys. Right now, I can only get either this game, or Avowed. I know that they are both completely different types of games, but wondering what you guys think. Which one is worth getting now, and holding off on the other until next paycheck which will be in another 2 weeks. Thoughts and help appreciated :)

This a hundred % if you like the Like a Dragon / yakuza series. Avowed is not worth it, if you really want to play it, wait for a sale in a few weeks / monts.

Personally i much prefer avowed. But if you love these types of games then you already have your answer.

Ultimately its just what type of game you prefer. On a yakuza forum it's unlikely people are going to say avowed :D

That depends on a lot of things, honestly. I like both games, and I like the series both games are from.

Pirate Yakuza is a fun game that has a very arcadey feel to it. It's got a typical Yakuza/Like a Dragon plot; it's a goofy soap opera about middle-aged men that occasionally has sparks of actual genius writing in it. I can say that pretty much every Yakuza/Like a Dragon game is at least very good, to great, so if it's your style, you definitely won't be wasting money.

However, if you haven't played the series before, I'd recommend trying out the action games, starting with Yakuza 0 first, then Kiwami 1 and 2, and see from there. You don't NEED to know what's happening to understand Pirate Yakuza, but without context you are missing a bunch of payoff.

Avowed for me so far, has been fun. But, it's not Skyrim. It doesn't have npc reactions, ie, no stealing, or killing guards. It also doesn't have a pure open world, or item physics. It's more like playing something like Mass Effect in first person. You have a BIT of freedom to go where you want to go, but it's handcrafted for a specific challenge per area. I like it, and think the lore is great, but Obsidian has a track record for the last bit of their games losing steam. Oh, and it has women soldiers in Avowed? Some people seem put off by that, for some reason, but there really isn't anything 'woke' about Avowed at all. Combat is a lot of fun. I like the one Companion you get at the start, but I haven't progressed the story much yet.

this is why you aren't going to get a valid answer if you take onboard people that are generally biased in one direction. It's like me going onto the skyrim forum and asking if i should get skyrim or golf simulator 2025.

Unless you directly intended to have an imbalanced answer. in which case fire away.

This is a balanced answer. But it's less common. So don't expect it generally. Most people that are fans of a certain genre or game will not give you a balanced perspective, nor should you expect them to.

Avowed is good, but getting this solely depends on if you like Yakuza. If you don't like the series then you probably won't care for this new game. As for Avowed it's basically Outer Worlds in a fantasy setting. So if you played and liked that game you'll like Avowed.

Avowed feels like every other fantasy RPG i've played since the good old Oblivion days. The writing is hit or miss, and the combat doesn't feel weighty at all.

Yakuza is Yakuza, you're getting what you expect. Usually is going to be a fun romp if you enjoy these types of games.

As in RIGHT NOW. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 it's top peak. It's very slow, but trust me, join reddit, check the clips from the community, it's very detail and worth every penny.

For me. I'm gonna risk it and get AC Shadows (Laugh, I know), I recently play AC Black Flag and I need that ubisoft vibe.
