Forward Gunners on plane not working

I have a maxed plane building and I have yet to see the forward gunners do anything. I know they're not doing anything because ive played the free online game and have seen them work flawlessly there.

run it in slow mo and you ll see how it works, the pilot only pulls the trigger when he has a target in front of him, depending on the flight path that means maybe 0.5 secs of actual fire. Its a dense, single stream of darts.

To be honest, its not much of an upgrade over the original plane IMO.
