steam version is pretty much the same as the mobile one except there are no microtransactions.
if you havent played mobile version then yes its definitely worth buying steam version as there are many more maps and towers. If you do own mobile version then its your call if you would like to play it on a bigger screen and not experience any lag at higher levels (that was number 1 problem with free version for me) i used to set up a map on apopalypse go to bed and wake up 8 hours later and still be at round 200 or so,
