I give a quite detailed account of one way to do it in the Topic "What Rank Are You?" on page 3, starting with a screenshot of the Maze Map.

^ Yeah, Frank really did a great job posting that "tutorial" on how to Regen Farm....

Took a lot of time to write it up and was very complete and helpful. :)

Good luck with it...it can be tricky to do properly, but once you get the hang of it, should be fine...

@Frank:

Hope you check these boards and read this. :)

Took a page out of your example for the Maze Map and did some r49 regen farming

Anyway, just figured I would throw some stats out there:

~7 hours on r49
Maze map
Start XP Rank: 73.5
End Regen Farming XP Rank: 82.1
End Regen Farming Cash: ~59,000,000
Steam BTD5 Win.exe RAM usage: 1.1GB
Towers used to get to r41: 1 4/2 Ninja, 1 2/2 Bomb, 1 2/2 Village, 4 4/2 Farms

So, just under 1 XP rank per hour of regen farming.

I probably won't be doing this ever again - I just wanted to see for myself the process.

There really is zero point to do any XP rank farming after rank 60 or so anyway. :)

Interestingly, my system shows no sign of slowdown at all even after 7 hours of regen...just the 1.1GB RAM usage which is the highest I have seen Steam BTD5 ever use up [even counting a couple of 200+ round games I did].

Anyway, just throwing out some facts for folks interested in doing this kinda thing.

And of course, THANKS A TON FRANK for such a detailed description of this process.

cheers,
-les

Thanks for the stats! The ranks start quickly, and slow down as you get higher. So, the 1 rank/hour is really rank dependent. I'm glad the postings were good enough for you to replicate the process.

The easiest way to farm is a pro banana farmer in the middle of the track an a single 0/0 dart monkey at the beginning. At the end of the track you can "catch" the bloons with all your firepower and/or a glue gunner/ice tower. This is possible at round 31 for the first time.

cons: Banana Farmer pro costs monkey money
pros: works on nearly all tracks
very slow farming rate at the beginning, so you are able to build up your defense.
