Late Game

Making my first attempt to go really late game... Anyone got any tips or tricks that may help me or anyone else trying to do this get further??

Did you have any of your temples on first? because it's mostly the normal bloons that'll kill you that late when you can't keep up with them + the dying MOAB class bloons.

I have all of my temples targeting first and have the supermonkey specialty building activated and i have a macro set that is holding 1 for 15 seconds then off for 15 seconds to activate the dark temple of the monkey god

Nice work man :)

One of the 3 people who have cracked Steam BTD5 round 1000 used a similar setup on the same map.

They relied as you are on massive Chipper spam and also with a similar number of Temples [probably the most you can fit on that map without using the Heli-Temple technique].

I would say you got a real shot at round 1000...Join us! :D

Not much advice I can give you except...

I personally like to make 1-2 Temples [the ones closest to the entrance set to STRONG] with all the rest set to FIRST.

While Steam BTD5 does not lag in nearly the same way and amount as Flash BTD5, yes, the AI bloons will appear to FLY across the screen starting around round 400+ or so. So really, for Temples you do need most of them to be on First.

But again, in your case, the massive Chipper spam will be doing most of the heavy lifting for you as the rounds get higher and higher.

Setting 1-2 Temples closest to the entrance to STRONG may serve to constantly damage the toughest ZOMGs.

Still, now that I think about it, because of your massive Chipper spam, you may be better off just leaving every tower on FIRST.

It's really a hard call and very tough to know in the later stages what is actually best.

Currently i am up to round 679... i would be further but my game keeps crashing about every 100 rounds

Good and bad news I guess. Still say you're looking good for r1000. Good luck!

What kind of crashes are you getting? What are your basic system specs? RAM, CPU type, OS?

Ah...Win 10.1....Not gonna upgrade from 7 64bit for as long as humanly possible. So I got no way to try and help you figure out the issues, other than the usual suspects in computer-world: up-to-date drivers for Win 10, Win 10 itself up to date, etc....

You machine specs are way more than enough for Steam BTD5, no matter the round. On my main laptop that I use to play Steam BTD5, I have 1/2 your RAM on a middle of the road i5 processor [though I do have an ATI onboard 512MB vid card rather than generic SOC intel graphics].

Is there/does Win 10 have a "compatibility mode" setting somewhere? Does that help at all?

What does NK support say?

And yeah, like I said, I def think you're good to r1000 at the least... :D

Nice one dude! As far as I know this is the second run to beat 1000 without using the temple glitch :) You're the new record holder in that respect!

4? When did Superjombombo2 manage that? And of course, I am assuming he threw a vid out on youtube? lol That guy is great for the BTD5 community, despite my not always agreeing with the things he suggests people do, especially in Battles. Nice guy though... :)

And yeah, I guess you already knew that LaprasRider and DalekRuler are actually one and the same...I did not know that until just now when I saw another thread/post where he mentions it.

CONGRATS! Especially since you did NOT use the Heli-Temple thing.

It's looking like the Heli-Temple thing may indeed be the ultimate strategy to get to the highest rounds in Steam BTD5.

Although....my own save game is still in the running at r1056, using a kind of hybrid build...50 "pertect" Temples, 160+ Chippers and 65 Snipers. Not as many Chippers as you folks used, but I am still hopeful to try and crack r1500. Just no time these recent weeks to even let the game run...

SJB is one of two people to have cracked r1000 outside of express shipping. Both players used the heli-glitch however. The other player is Joel0437 who made it beyond 1400 recently (check his steam account and screenshots for his runs).

Hey Lapras:

Thanks a lot for that info. I think I am gonna start a new thread here...sort of like the "official" Flash BTD5 high round thread over on the classic NK forums.

The intention would be to have a single thread with names/screenshots of people's highest round games under Steam BTD5.

Just as a sort of record for posterity. Please feel free to correct any errors I may make on it.
