Anyway. I'm biased so i like BTD5 Deluxe over every other btd game but mechanically btd6 is better, more challenging, more monkeys, more tiers, more paths.
btd 5 is worse in terms of graphics, variety of gameplay (there are more maps, but there are few modes and variations of improvement) and the development of the co-op. Btd 5 is rather unpleasant to play - in multiplayer you can't see information about your friend's towers, hotkeys work strangely. the game is perfect on an old computer and a square monitor (the new monitors have monkeys on the sides of the screen lol), but not now. btd 6 is much better because btd 5 is outdated. and also in btd 5 just boring improvements compared to btd 6, where there are three times more farming variations. in btd 5 you NEED to spam monkeys, and in btd 6 you can put a few and improve them correctly.
btd 5 is better for anyone just because of nostalgia
they used to be
Base tower: weak
2x2 tower: pretty strong
4x2 tower: REALLY strong
with BTD6, despite having FIFTEEN possible upgrades, all the towers are insanely weak. they constantly miss/leak bloons, the attack speed is really slow no matter what upgrades you use, and most daily advanced missions require either insanely accurate placement or insane micromanaging to make the towers work the way they should work WITHOUT all that extra stuff.
BTD5's towers were Bad@$$, AND they had special agents too that were iconic, got the job done and were worth the money.
BTD6 replaced special agents with lame "powers" that barely do anything useful. one of them just stops time for 5 seconds or something.... really? trash-tier.
BTD5's cash flow scaled in proportion to the amount of bloons you were popping; but in THIS game, they have these "cash starve" rounds where you're only earning like 50% or 40% of the amount of money that you SHOULD be making.
other than these downfalls, BTD6 is mostly the better game. the graphics and music is good, the game runs waaaay better because it's not a port of a flash game, there's more to upgrade and more to do as well as choices you can make, tower footprints are easier to understand, and there's more game modes.
honestly All I want is for them to re-add special missions, special agents, and the bloonchipper and I would let all other grievances go.
imagine the successor mission to "wizard Lord," where it's a 5-5-5 wizard monkey. yeaaaaah, see what I mean? they really dropped the ball not adding that. almost anyone would want to play that special mission just to see what the wizard lord would look like
The only real issue I have with BTD 6 is that NinjaKiwi can't make up their minds and keeps rebalancing all the towers every year so old strategies don't work anymore. In a PvP game that would be great but for a mostly-solo PvE only tower defense game I would much prefer consistency rather than all info becoming outdated that fast.
