Huge lag spikes
When I start a round, lag spike, when a round continues, lag spike, when I close a window, lag spike, when I start up the game, lag spike. My computer is a pretty high-end so is this the game's fault for also not letting me cloud save or is it that my windows is corrupted because I don't wanna have to go through the process of re-installing my damn windows especially with all the data I have.

Hi folks, thanks for letting us know about this. We are still looking into it, but if you were able to try something for us that would be a big help.

Could you try excluding the btd5 data folder from windows defender scans.

The path should be
<your steam directory>\userdata\<user id>\306020\

Instructions for excluding folders here: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-exclude-files-and-folders-windows-defender-antivirus-scans

If it makes no difference then revert that change, but please let us know either way.

Thanks,

Yeah me too, is it the new drivers for nvidia maybe? Or is it some issue with the shaders. We need NinjaKiwi to look at it soon tho

I feel like it's the newest update of BTD5 that came out.

The same for me. I haven't changed anything but the game now barely works.

Same for me, except my game flat-out crashes on round start, with massive lag spikes in loading screen

I have this same issue and am also now unable to play co-pop with my friends. We each get the message for connecting to the server, which blinks by really quickly, but then it hangs on connecting to the game and will sit there until I cancel it. Both issues cropped up at the same time so they may be related. Help me, samninjakiwiw, you're my only hope!

Exact same problem. I get lag spikes at the start of almost every round, and i'm starting with the fast start. It makes games take 5-10 times longer

if you're looking for any footage of it happening I am not able to help ya with that because it won't lag when I'm recording which is something very interesting that happens that I've never seen in any game before.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
